Hi all,

I'm working on a new research project for EWB-UK, looking at the interaction between infrastructure engineering and conflict.

The project is in collaboration with International Alert, a peacebuilding INGO based in London. The research is focused on the role of engineering in promoting peace and sustainable development with specific reference to infrastructure and climate change. From our side at EWB-UK, we're going to build up evidence for case studies of projects that have been successful and unsuccessful, which will then feed into a number of outputs to establish best practice in conflict sensitive environments.

The project expects to achieve the following outputs:

1. Three case studies - examples demonstrating positive and negative implications of climate related infrastructure interventions on peace and security in fragile contexts;
2. Briefing paper for the engineering sector;
3. Training on the design and implementation of conflict- and climate- sensitive infrastructure projects.

I'm really interested to hear from anyone in the energy community of practice has any examples they'd be willing to discuss with me.

Please find more information on the EWB-UK website (here), and don't hesitate to email me with questions if anything's unclear.

All the best,

Abi Taylor
