Hey everyone,

EWB-USA is having a Zoom panel tomorrow evening at 7:30 PM EDT called "Putting Humans & Justice at the Center of EWB Projects". This will be a great way to learn more about how to integrate social justice into our work, and how to start conversations within our own chapter about the meaning behind humanitarian engineering and the roles we play.

Hope you all can make it!

Hello EWB Northeastern University!

I am Sheel Patel, the EWB California State Representative and member and West Coast RSC board member, and a fellow member of the Cal Poly SLO EWB chapter. Nice to meet you and your chapter!

We're excited to invite you and your chapter members to the West Coast's Panel as part of the EWB-USA Virtual Conference series, hosted tomorrow at 4:30 PDT via Zoom! The topic of the panel will be "Putting Humans & Justice at the Center of EWB Projects", with a focus on the discussion of social sciences within your EWB projects. This discussion-based panel, featuring multiple PhD./PhD. candidates with experience studying this field, will be a great way to learn more about how to make your projects more human-centered from multiple perspectives. At the end, we will have a Q&A to answer any questions you may have. Additionally, we will be doing a $25 gift card raffle for one lucky attendee, and there is no cost associated with the event! Also, there is a flyer attached to the bottom of this email. Click here (or the link below) to register for this event! (Note that the time written in the link is 5:30 PM Mountain Time, which is the same as 4:30 PM PDT / 7:30 PM EDT)

We would like to see you or some representatives from your chapter/region share their perspectives at this event (feel free to share this event with your whole chapter)!

What: West Coast Regional Panel: Putting Humans & Justice at the Center of EWB Projects
When: Tuesday, June 30 at 4:30-6:00 PM PDT / 7:30-9:00 PM EDT (Tomorrow!)
Who: Your, your chapter's officer, and your chapter's members
Where: Via Zoom, register using this link: https://tinyurl.com/y9hvnbu7
Why: Many times when working on an infrastructure project for EWB-USA, we find that it is easy to focus on the technical aspects of a project. Primarily focusing on technical work can distract from the broader context of our work. This panel aims to explain and teach the importance of humanitarian engineering and social sciences in order to begin to understand our overall impact.

We look forward to seeing you there! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Hey everyone,

Thanks to all who came to the conference yesterday!

If you weren't able to make it, here is a link to a doc with the Zoom chat, and here is a link to the Volunteer Village page where the recording will be posted. If you don't already have a Volunteer Village account, you may need to sign up to access the page. We will also be continuing this conversation tonight at 6 PM EDT in the EWB-NEU Diversity & Inclusion Teams group, which you can join here.

Hope you're all doing well!
