Subject: EWB November Southeast Region Key Take-aways
Dear Sali,
Hope you had a great thanksgiving holiday! I wanted to share a few key takeaways from the Southeast Regional Steering Committee call on November 23rd. If you could share the below information with your team, I would be most grateful:
1. 2021 Cost-share suspension:
Fundraising has been very tough this year and the difficult fundraising climate may last through 2021. As a result, EWB-USA is pausing the cost-share program. Chapters and members can find out additional details on this here: 2021 Cost Share Overview and FAQ
2. Extension of travel suspension:
EWB-USA has extended the international volunteer travel suspension until May 1, 2021 due to the continued risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional details were explained in a message sent to all active volunteers on Nov 19, 2020.
3. Push for capturing hours:
At the beginning of every month a Volunteer Hours email goes out to all volunteers with an active Volunteer Village account who have not opted out of receiving emails. Tracking hours is very important for an accurate understanding of the total impact of EWB-USA. Why? Donors and grant applications often ask for this information and EWB-USA’s ability to better support volunteers is connected to what volunteers are doing and how often. We are currently grossly underreporting hours.
All activity counts, from engaging in chapter meetings, or participating in e-learning, to visiting a community! Volunteers are encouraged to track hours at a frequency that is reasonable to them; however, HQ encourages tracking hours after each task is completed and at a minimum on a monthly basis for accuracy. Please encourage all members to support the impact of EWB-USA by filling out their hours. Additional info on tracking hours is available here: Volunteer Profile: Entering Volunteer Hours
4. Volunteer engagement survey:
The annual volunteer experience survey is now open. Please help inform the work of the organization by filling out the survey and promoting it to all members: 2020 Volunteer Experience Survey
5. Year-end fundraising campaign:
On November 17, EWB-USA launched the annual Year-End Campaign, and invited chapters and members to join! This year’s campaign theme, Delivering the Essentials, speaks to EWB-USA's commitment to our mission and communities in what has been an unparalleled year. While COVID-19 brought on hardships and challenges around the world, it highlights the message that we are stronger together and our work is more important than ever.
HQ has created a toolkit to assist chapters in making end of year fundraising campaigns a success: Year-End Chapter Fundraising Toolkit
6.
2020 (virtual) annual conference presentations:
Please take the opportunity to check out and promote the wide array of on-demand virtual conference presentations that your peers have created
here.
7. Volunteers needed:
· EWB Vanderbilt University Student Chapter is looking for an experienced REIC for their International Project in Guatemala.
· EWB University of Tennessee Knoxville Student Chapter is looking for an REIC for their first Domestic Project in Morgan County, TN.
Please let Taras know if you have any questions or would love to help out (tn.st...@regions-ewb-usa.org)
I look forward to our next check-in. Please of course also feel free to reach out anytime prior.
Sincerely,
--
