Hello EWB-HRP Members,
Hope all is well!
On August 15th we held a social meeting at the Back Bay’s Farmhouse Brewery in Virginia Beach. Pete Baskette followed up in early August on the EWB Guatemala office’s assessment visit to the community near ODU’s current project; we are awaiting a response at this time and hope to have more information by the September meeting. If you haven’t done so already and you want to be a part of the project, please check your profile on volunteer village and make sure it is up to date and complete as we want to be ready to apply as soon as the community's application is approved and posted.
Pete has also reached out to another contact about local, rural community needs which could potentially lead to a project in southwestern VA, the northern part of the middle peninsula, or Northern Neck. We will keep you posted on updates.
We held elections during our August meeting; the results follow:
President – JoEllen Rose
VP – Charles Hall
Secretary – Matt English
Treasurer – Sali Kedir
Membership/Recruitment – Matt Fisher
Fundraising – Charles Hall
Social – Phil Fortuna
Technical Lead – Pete Baskette
ODU Liaison – Matt English
Our September meeting will be a joint social with the ODU student chapter on September 12th which is back to the second Thursday of the month. We plan to meet at 6:00 at O’Connor Brewing Co. on 24th Street in Norfolk right down the road from ODU.
In October, we have thrown out the idea of meeting somewhere near the VB Oceanfront. We’ll have further details as we get closer.
As a reminder, the 2019 EWB-USA Conference is November 7-9 (Thurs-Sat) in Pittsburgh, PA. If anyone’s interested in going, let us know so that we can keep everyone who is going in touch with each other.
Action Items:
1. Check your profile on EWB volunteer village to ensure it’s complete and you can remember your login information.
2. Plan to attend a social meeting on September 12th at O’Connor Brewing Co.
3. Consider going to the 2019 EWB-USA Conference in November, and let us know if you want to go.
Best regards,
