Hi Everyone,

Thanks to those of you who replied to the email about finding new board members and ways for EWB WPP to continue.  We would like to invite all of you to our next meeting with presenter Dr. Snow on May 12th at Marquette University at 6PM and then to stay afterwards to discuss some of things Heather sent in her email.  We would like the discussion started by her email to continue in person so that we can figure out a good way for EWB WPP to move forward.

Here is the email Heather originally sent:

“Yesterday, April 15, was our deadline for nominations to the EWB board, and we have no nominations. All officer positions are open, as is the TAC position.

The EWB WPP Board, for the past two years, has worked to bring together students and professionals for the benefit of all by organizing networking opportunities and events with minor success, while the many of the board felt disconnected from actual WPP projects.

With that, I wonder if the WPP should move forward as a project based chapter and focus on building that while raising funds. However, my concern is that we will not help bridge the gap between students and professionals, and potential leaders will not be engaged.

The task of bringing professionals and students from multiple companies and schools together is grand and will take a grand effort. Unfortunately, the leaders of our local chapters are already maxed out.

If we have a group focused on WPP projects, I hope those working on the projects will step up to fill these EWB Board roles.  They can  review the travel documents, plans, and expense reports and perhaps act as other chapters focused on projects with committees such as design, fundraising, project review, etc. “

See you in a few weeks:

Neal

I’ll be working in the field – I’ll try to make it but I will be nowhere near close to MKE.

Honestly, the next couple of weeks are pretty busy for me.  I’ll have a hard time making the meeting next week as well.

If Irina and Benjie are most likely out, maybe we should reschedule?  I feel like this is an important meeting to have as many board members at as possible.

Greetings EWB WPP Board and Friends,

We will meet either way after Dr. Snow's presentation, as Neal proposed. The board term is coming to an end in a few weeks, and with that, it's important we discuss the future sooner rather than later. I understand that some folks cannot join us. It's the nature of our engineering work, and it will only get busier during the summer construction season.

Please join us if you can. We can set up a subsequent meeting to discuss further.

Sincerely,

Heather Cleveland
