Hey Everyone!
So this will be our discussion board for our group. Use it for sharing
ideas and discussion only...not as a way to contact me or anyone else
in the community outreach group(just use email for that). Hopefully
this will help us stay connected better. If you feel comfortable, you
could put your email and/or phone # down as well. Now let's have fun
with this!

Since the community is underprivileged, can we donate clothing, etc to
take to the community and hand out? I don't know if anyone's thought
of this, but maybe we could have a clothing drive or toy drive. I'd
just like to be able to give the people of the community something.

That's sounds like a real cool thing to do. I think that should be
something to consider once we have everything else taken care for the
implementation process.

Speaking of donations though, a student working for Wuqu' Kawoq is
collecting medicines, vitamins, and shoes. I was hoping you might all
be interested in getting cold packs from the Oasis after tomorrow's
meeting and donating them to the cause.

I'll make the announcement tomorrow!
Peace

Hi all,

In general, I'd like to keep our donations of items like clothing or
medicine, etc. to go thru others (like the student working for Wuqu'
Kawoq), so as to not create the expectation that we are there to hand
out stuff. We need them to eventually take ownership of this project
(including the ongoing maintenance expenses); we'll probably even ask
them to contribute things like the pipes, so that they are invested in
the project & will take care of it. We should be seen as engineering
consultants and not mix that expectation with other expectations.

That said, I'm all for helping out the Wuqu' Kawoq student with her
mission, if you would like to donate those items thru her.

I'd definately be interested in doing that and I could probably get some of my friends to do the same. I also have a pair of shoes that I don't want.

see you at the meeting
Amanda
