EWB-PPC,

Please take a few minutes to log in the hours that you contribute to EWB in the website below.  What counts as “outreach” seems pretty broad in their definition, and I would include any time that you volunteer for EWB or other organizations.  With all that you guys do, we can probably meet their million hour goal just within our group!

Thanks,

Brad

Log Your Volunteer Hours!

National Engineers Week 2009 was another huge success! We are sure you participated in many of the E-Week activities.  But every day activities, throughout 2009,  are also a part of Engineers Week outreach.

Please take a quick moment to log your participation hours as part of the "Million Hours of STEM Outreach" initiative. Through this campaign, NSPE and National Engineers Week are encouraging EVERY engineer to log all volunteer hours spent on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education outreach THROUGH December 31, 2009. We are showing the world our collective strength in numbers!

We already have over 110 ,000 hours but we need your help — and volunteer hours — to reach our goal before December 31,2009!

Here are just a few examples of the many activities to log:

  • Visiting a classroom.
  • Participating in an extracurricular or community activity.
  • Hosting a Design Squad event.
  • Introducing a girl to engineering.
  • Helping out with the Discover Engineering Family Day.
  • Attending or presenting at a career fair.
  • Volunteering with organizations such as MATHCOUNTS, JETS, and Future City.
  • Supporting robotics competitions or any design or engineering-related competition.
  • Working with Scouts to earn an Engineering Activity Badge.
  • And many, many other activities!

Click here to log your hours. You'll also be able to track of all your volunteer hours, over the course of the year, providing a great way to look back on all of your outreach efforts.

We look forward to watching the numbers grow as we move ahead, and we thank you in advance for all you do to promote the engineering profession.
