Subject: Kimball 5K Challenge FAQ's
As teams start forming across the company, a number of people have had questions about the Kimball 5K Challenge. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions:
KIMBALL 5K CHALLENGE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What’s the distance of a 5K?
A: 3.1 Miles. The exact route can be found at http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=295886
Q: Can I walk instead of run the 5K?
A: Absolutely! Walkers will use the same route, but will start approximately 5 minutes after the runners take off.
Q. Can my children participate with me?
A: Yes. Kids ages 6-15 are $15 to participate, kids 5 and younger are free (strollers are permitted). Adults and youth will run or walk the 5K at the same time.
Q. If my spouse is participating, does he or she have to pay the registration fee or can they solicit sponsorships?
A: The registration fee for adult, non-Kimball employees is $25. The $25 can be paid by the participant or raised through pledges and sponsorships. And, by all means, spouses can raise and contribute more than $25.
Q. Will there be any other activities or entertainment?
A: Yep! As of now we’ll have a DJ and kids entertainment – including a performing clown, children’s games and a fun run! More information will be released as we finalize the details.
Q. What happens if it rains?
A: The event will be held rain or shine.
Q. I’m not going to run or walk, but I want to be involved. What can I do?
A. Volunteer! Call Krista Sponsky to find out where we need your help.
Q. I can’t participate but I want to contribute, what can I do?
A. You have a number of options. Find a Kimball employee who is participating and sponsor him or her or his or her team. Purchase a Kimball 5K Challenge T-shirt – Available for $12. Or, just send your donation (cash or check made payable to L. Robert Kimball & Associates/ 5K Challenge) to Krista Sponsky.
Q. How will prizes for runners be awarded?
A. Awards will be given to the top finishers in various gender and age categories.
Q. Is there an incentive for fundraising?
A. We will be giving an award to the individual who raises the most money as well as the team who raises the most money per person. Persons who participate on a team are still eligible for the individual prize.
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
