Hey all,

I know this is last minute but there is a YMF meeting tomorrow (5:30pm) that would be a great place to pass out fliers and maybe even do a presentation.  YMF is the Younger Member Forum for the American Society of Civil Engineers.  There will be representatives from several civil companies here in the valley.  I might be able to set up a time slot for a short presentation (these meetings are usually pretty informal but I'm not sure how far in advance we need to be placed on the agenda). If that doesn't work we may be able to just piggy back of off ASU-ASCE who will also be passing out flyers that evening. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can make the meeting (depends on if I can get a lab done...). So, is there anyone who might be available tomorrow night and who might be willing to at least pass out some flyers and possibly even say a few words? Let me know ASAP.

Thanks,

Cori

Hi Technical Team:

The location for the 7:00 p.m. technical team meeting tonight will be Noble Science Library in the very large corner group study room on the third floor. If you do not know which room I am referring to, when you enter the library look up to the third floor and you should see us.

I want to stress again that if you are on the travel team please make an effort to come to this and future meetings (although you do not need to be on the travel team to come!). Please also note my previous e-mail below with the links of some documents that you should read before tonight.

This meeting and future ones will be an hour to an hour and a half and will be very informative and structured, so they will be well worth your time.

See you tonight!

Michal

Hi Technical Team,

I would like to hold a meeting this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. I am not yet sure of the location (ISTB2 would probably be best but I need to see if we can get into a room there).

We have much to prepare and we are beginning to be pressed for time, so we will begin meeting on a weekly basis. If you are part of the travel it is exceptionally important for you to start attending these meetings since you will have a much clearer understanding of the project. If you are not part of the travel team, please don't be deterred from coming since there is still a lot to help out with (I'm not going on the trip either!).

Before the meeting, please read the documents in the links below if you have not yet done so. They will give you a good background to the problems in the community, a general idea of what we need to test for, and some EWB suggested solutions. I realize it is a lot of information, but we will be able to be more productive if everyone is starting from the same base line.

1. The original application- I assume most of you have read this, but if you have not this is essential!

2. Site Assessment Checklist (form 505)- many of you have probably read this already as well.

3. Water Resources Guidelines- a document prepared by EWB with great background for water projects (if this is too technical, at least skim this so that you have a general understanding).

At the meeting I will let you know where we stand with the water and soil testing, and the site topography evaluation.

We have a lot of background learning to do and many skills to master, so come ready to learn some information and help make a plan for the next six weeks.

I will e-mail you as soon as I know the location.

Michal

Dear Technical Team (and anyone else who would like to come),

I wanted to remind you that we have our meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. in ISTB2 room 265. I have received most people's power point slides, but if you have not yet sent them to me please do so right away! Expect the meeting to last until 9:00-9:15 and please plan on staying the whole time. I promise the meeting will be action packed and very informative.

See you later,

Michal

I realize this is kind of late, but attached are all the presentations I received for tonight's meeting. I've printed off a couple (meaning 2) copies, so if you want your own hopefully you will have time to print it before 7:30.
Michal

Dear Tsuraku Project Team,

First, we have our next technical team meeting this Monday at 7:00 p.m. in ISTB2 room 265 (If you were not at the last meeting, I appoligize for not sending this out sooner- it slipped my mind). The meeting will end no later than 9:00 p.m.

I want to remind you that among whatever other jobs you volunteered to do for this week, if you have or are currently putting together one of the presentations, please also start working on the more detailed document. Again, this could just be photocopied or printed pages from your sources, but make them useful since these will be your refrence pages on the assessment trip. Please bring the extent of what you have compiled (hopefully a lot) to Monday's meeting.

Second, a note to the travel team. After speaking with Ayla about buying the plane tickets, we propose that (unless we are absolutely certain we will have access to our account by early this week) all members of the travel team who are able to purchase their tickets out of pocket should do so after the technical meeting on Monday. Bring your laptop if you have one and then you can all search for tickets and buy them all at once. Please reply to the whole group to let everyone know whether you agree to this, and if not, propose an alternative.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Michal

I've been saying that we need to compile an expanded version of the technical presentations to bring on the assessment trip. I had some type of idea of what this meant, but I'm not sure I conveyed it too clearly. I just received Cori's version of this on latrines and it seems to have all of the pertinent information and will be extremely useful! I have attached it so that you can have a clearer idea of what you should compile. Of course each topic has different objectives, so the layout will be different, but I think this is the level of detail that will be useful (let me know if you think otherwise).
See you tonight,
Michal
