I've a Sony Bravia Android TV and a Mikrotik router. I set DNS server in my mikrotik router pointing at my pihole instance running in a proxmox machine. Everything is working fine but Amazon Prime Video on the TV. Amazon Prime video is working on iphone and PCs but not on the TV. It's very slow in starting up and videos just do not start streaming.
I believe PiHole is blocking something Amazon Prime Video on Smart TV just need.
Start your Amazon Prime video on your smart TV, then locate and click on the client associated with your Smart TV under "Top Clients" in your dashboard. On the query log look at where it is blocking and see if you can whitelist.
Samsung smart TVs are all-in-one entertainment systems, providing easy access to fantastic apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime. If you're experiencing issues with an app that isn't working, whether it is crashing or isn't opening at all, there are a few different troubleshooting solutions you can try. Follow the steps below to fix the problem.
Rather than turning off your TV by placing it into standby mode, a soft reset involves turning the TV off completely before rebooting it. Just like turning a computer off and on again, this can often solve issues you may be having.
Software updates are released to provide bug and security fixes for your device. If you're experiencing an issue it's a good idea to check if there is a software update available as it may solve your problem.
If you're still having issues with apps on your TV you can try resetting Smart Hub. This should be used as a last resort as you will be signed out of every app that you use on your smart TV, not just the app you want to fix.
Should you find that everything is up and running, but there is still no video streaming, look at other devices on your network. Insufficient bandwidth could be impacting internet access if other people using the network are also streaming. If possible, disable these other devices for a few minutes to see if this helps.
If Amazon Prime isn't working, the first thing to check is your account status. You probably know that Amazon Prime Video isn't 100% free. You'll either have access to it via the annual Amazon Prime subscription or the monthly video-only subscription.
Usually, these don't last too long, but such an incident can wipe out that evening of binge-watching you had planned. To check if your Amazon Prime Video problem is caused by Amazon servers, use a checking service to learn whether Amazon is offline or experiencing problems.
Next, you need to confirm the minimum requirements for your device. For smart TVs and set-top boxes, the requirements will remain unchanged. This means that if the device has an Amazon Prime Video app available, it should work. If not, and you've checked the other troubleshooting items on this page, you'll need to contact the manufacturer.
The web browser you use is also important. If there is no dedicated Amazon Prime Video app for your OS, you'll need to view videos in the browser. Your web browser should be the latest version any of the following:
In some cases, issues with Amazon Prime Video not working can be due to the HDMI cable. For example, if you're streaming via a game console or set-top box. In order for 4K streaming to work correctly, you will need a 4K-ready HDMI cable, rather than a standard 1080p HDMI cable.
By "restart," we mean switch off and power up again, rather than simply put the device on standby mode. To do this, you should find the power button on the back of your TV. It's worth disconnecting it from the mains supply too.
Eventually, you should find the options to Clear data and Clear cache. Use these to persuade the app to work. Note that you'll probably need to sign in to the app again once it restarts.
In this article, we've looked at various reasons why Amazon Prime Video has stopped working. To ensure the best performance, be sure to keep the app updated and subscribe to a fast broadband package. You should also position your streaming device close to your router.
When I use the remote functionality on the SmartThings app, the voice recognition virtual button works fine, so I know the TV is able to do the command...but for whatever reason my Smart Remote does not send this same command when the button is pushed.
@smoothmedia: Are you making sure to press and hold the microphone button on the Smart Remote when you're dictating your command? If so, head to Home > Settings > General > Voice > Voice Assistant, and set this to Bixby to see if this helps.
Unfortunately, in my case I have tried all of the various measures recommended here but without success so I am currently awaiting a replacement smart control which i hope (fingers crossed) corrects the fault .
In the interim i noticed you mentioned the use of the smart things remote and the virtual microphone which you used to used to confirm the tv was okay (great idea!). I downloaded the app and managed to the the get the 'virtual' control up and working but for the life of me couldn't find the voice control button - could you please point me in the right direction??
PS I should add I have managed to connect my Amazon Echo unit to the TV so it can be controlled by Alexa (and in effect renders the control button redundant) but still a bit miffed that the smart remote doesnt seem to function correctly. The hope is the replacement will resolve the issue and its not the TV at fault!
Since writing this post I have received a new smart control and I'm pleased to say it worked first time. If it doesn't following a reset of the tv and control then I wouldn't waste any more of your time as there will be hardware fault somewhere (just hope its the control and not the TV!) .
I've got a number of Samsung devices and the whole they're fantastic pieces of kit. That said the last TV i bought, which was top of the range at the time didn't work out the box (replacement required) and this time there was a fault with the control (again a reasonably high end tv, replacement required). My daughter's 32" has also just broken down after 18 months !! There are clearly quality control issues as really failures like this shouldn't occur in this day and age, especially out of the box. I'm still a fan of the brand but can't deny it does make me wonder about the overall quality....
