Solace Dreams is a stand alone total conversion mod, made to run exclusively for GzDoom using such features like dynamic lighting and most importantly animated voxels. It takes inspiration from games like Silent Hill and Darksouls and combines them both to make what you see here. You play as Yuna, a school girl who must face off against a large variety of enemies & bosses in all kinds of unique locations. It has a estimated game play length of 2+hours and infinite replayability with new game plus, with added features like boss rush mode and survival.

STORY

The story telling is very vague with only subtle hints to give the player a small insight into the world your about to play in. Each stage yields notes which describe the events that took place within that particular level. Can you solve the mystery behind each of the demented levels you are about to venture.

GAME PLAY

This is a slow paced run and gun style shooter, that focuses heavily on its boss battles and level exploration. The game incorporates silent hills inventory system and dark souls difficult boss battles, to create a exciting and challenging experience. The game at first is pretty linear introducing the player to the mechanics but then is entirely open world by the last half, so players experiencing difficulty or a shortage of items/ammo will be able to backtrack and switch stages.

-Manual saving has been disabled, use the in game camera locations scattered through the game to save. At least 1 can be found on each stage.

-Picking up a item, then pressing your assigned key will make the dialog disappear, this also applies for the diary entry.

BENCHMARK

Due to the nature of extreme voxel use in this mod, some stages may be unplayable for most players running the game on a less than optimal hardware. in this case use these commands found on this post to bypass any particular stage you are having difficulties with, please note that some key items can only be found on certain stages. Here is the benchmark required to play the mod smoothly... 4ghz CPU & 4gb Graphics card. Dont even attempt to play this mod unless you have said requirements.

TIPS

Each stage can be taken in any order. It is advised to explore each location fully before fighting any major boss, the strategy is just a guide for the individual stages. Try to conserve ammo and health as much as possible. Use knife & handgun for smaller enemies, Uzi & Shotgun for hordes and bosses. Keep your health at least 85% at all times, some bosses deal massive damage. Dont play this like doom guns a blazin', be cautious and approach this game like you would dark souls. Take your time and immerse yourself.

?Back track to the save point, then enter then opposite room, The Prison.

?Use the lever in the eastern section of the prison to access the cells picking up the next key found on a bed in one of the cells.

? SECRET (Dungeon Keeper) - In the prison find the cell with the bed sheets pinned to the wall, walk through the sheets to reveal the reference and first aid. Continue following the path and you will eventually find the dungeon heart. Speak with the mistress to gain her as a companion.

Obsessed with medieval history. Feels empty, cold, and hardened, more so with each passing day of his life... like he's becoming a shell of himself. He's probably feeling jaded and bitter because of all the bad in the world, and probably wishes the world were more like medieval times, because there was at least honour then...

This boss can be very tricky right at the start with only your rusty knuckle knife. The key to this fight is simply evading his attacks and picking the best time to strike. A move to be very careful of is his Blade wave, dealing random based ranged damage if hit directly, when he pulls back to swing, quickly run behind him and slash away. And finally keep your distance when you see him getting ready to charge at you. Do not simply run backwards as this is very slow, face away from him and try and out run him. When his health reaches 25%, he will summon 2 invincible and untouchable clones of himself that are only capable of doing ground smash. Just keep your distance and wait for the right moment to strike. Eventually he'll go down and you will be free to leave.

?Once you return back to the Class Room hub, Pick up Lee's Key and enter the door to the next stage.

?You will notice you can barely see a thing, in this stage you will be in complete darkness, the first thing we need to do is find a torch.

?Pick up Courtyard key in the girls toilet closest to the window, this will grant you access to the boss of this stage.

?Then pick up the Mystery key in the mens toilet in the corner cubicle.

? SECRET (GTA 5 / Silent Hill) - Now head to room 115, here you will find a lot of handy pink ups and the pistol upgrade perk which fires a additional bullet per shot free of charge.

This boss is not to hard if you have come properly prepared. Make sure you keep your distance and never engage in close combat, his Ground slams have average range with massive damage output. Evade incoming shock waves making sure to stay clear of the streams as they explode. This dont deal much damage but if your caught between streams then you may suffer heavy damage. Once he is defeated head back to the Class room hub and on to the next stage.

Obsessed with outer beauty, and neglects her inner self... so she feels dead inside. Loves being showered with compliments. She is incredibly vain and shallow, and doesn't see the monster inside until it reveals itself in her warped form. Sometimes feels like she's trapped within an infinite loop, like she's going through the motions, and she feels that others' opinions of her are reflective of herself (which would be symbolized by the hall of mirrors). She is easily affected by what others tell her, whether they be people or inanimate objects such as mirrors (though the mirrors don't say anything... she just interprets it in her own head). If it's harmful to her, it'll affect her greatly (like how even slight force can permanently damage a porcelain doll). She loves theme parks, which is why her world is rendered as a theme park. She manifests as a beautifully dressed woman with a horribly disfigured face, and her flesh and bone is made of clear glass... so she kind of looks like a weird porcelain doll. She'd be clear because she's a shallow and weak-minded individual. The mirrors represent others' opinions, and how they can easily be shattered.

?COMBAT GUIDE? Difficulty ?????

At first glace this don't seem to difficult until you get to the 3 and last stage of this fight. She will start strafing and using her phase shift to teleport near you and strike. More importantly on the last stage you must constantly be moving and shooting, she will chase you relentlessly with increased damage.

?Once she is defeated wait a minute and the floor will smash revealing your exit out of this arena.

Obsessed with partying and dance music. Doesn't care about school. Wishes to become a popstar so that she can make her life into one giant party and have the money to support said lifestyle. Seen with the latest fashion accessories... music players, headphones, purses, shoes... and is the popular kid. Manifests as a cyborg popstar surrounded by adoring fans -- women with destructive glowsticks and men with SMGs.

This battle can go either way depending on what she does during combat. Her main attack is her Gatling gun which you will want to avoid by side strafing while shooting at her. Avoid going close to her during this phase as she will cancel in to a homing ground slam that does massive damage. When she uses her homing missile barrage again simply side step out the way to avoid damage, the rockets will blow up the surrounding speakers that will deal minor damage to her. Her final attack is the landmines which can be a problem during the last third of her health, launching 8 bouncing mines randomly across the map. Like everything else just evade and continue to shoot at her, its quite straight forward really. Once she has been defeated head back to the classroom hub.

A timid girl who was raped. Not entirely known if she became pregnant, but she had to prepare for it anyway. With each passing day, her fear grew. And it didn't always concern the baby. She told no one of her rape, so she held it all in. The voices of fear would only grow louder in her head: What if Mom and Dad found out? What would they say? Why didn't I tell anyone sooner? What will we do about the baby, when it comes about? These questions and more would plague her and dominate her thoughts. And so her fear grew and festered. In her world, Faith's fear and guilt manifested itself as a deformed fetus who would destroy her from the inside... the type that was basically little more than a parasite that needed to be removed, else both she and the baby would die.

As soon as the fight begins start by taking out the 4 wobbly intestine tubes, these things will continue to spawn Red blood cell Enemies. After those are out of the way you can then start by killing the annoying hand that keeps stomping you, Destroying these parts will deal a overall massive damage to the boss. Then you can finally proceed to take down the main head, this can be troublesome as his vomit attack is a very wide radius attack an will deal little damage over a wide area. You can stop his vomit attack by simply making him stagger by shooting at him with your UZI. Once he is defeated you will be transported back out to the Hospital ward. Exit this area back to the main Classroom Hub.

This boss is very difficult, do not draw out this battle as you can be overwhelmed easily. At 3000 health he will only attack with small laser cannons relatively easy to dodge. At 2500 he will summon the Gatling gun which has a high inaccurate spread but equal damage. At 2000 his Shotgun will summon with a massive spread but low damage output. Then at 1500 is where it gets hard, his ultimate laser cannon will spawn, blasting a beam trapping you on one side of the arena. It is possible to shootout these turrets before they can fire but its easier to just try and kill Karl as quick as possible. Finally at 1000 health, he will start spawning Homing mines which emit a sound when coming into range. Once the boss is down head back to the Classroom hub.
