Sun
Van to Reveal New Fleet,
Including First Electric
Vans
Local
media is invited to attend a
special ribbon cutting and
fleet reveal. Introducing
Sun Van’s fleet upgrade with
50 new vehicles,
and five all
electric vans. This
event marks an important
milestone in Sun Van’s
continued efforts to
modernize its fleet and
introduce more sustainable
transportation options.
In
2022, the Federal Transit
Administration (FTA) awarded
Sun Tran a $12 million Low
or No Emission Grant. These
funds supported the purchase
of electric vehicles and
charging stations for Sun
Tran, as well as Sun Van’s
first electric vehicles.
Combined with contributions
from City of Tucson, Tucson
Electric Power (TEP), Pima
Association of Governments
(PAG), and the Regional
Transportation Authority
(RTA), the total investment
reached $15 million. With
this milestone, Sun Van
becomes the first
paratransit provider in
Arizona to operate all
electric paratransit vans.

Plan, Tucson Resilient
Together, to decarbonize
Tucson’s transportation
sector, ensure cleaner air,
and protect the health of
our residents. Sun Van is a
critical service that
connects Tucsonans to
employment, medical
appointments, and shopping.
Investing in Sun Van is
helping us create a more
robust and accessible
transit system so people can
live independently, improve
their quality of life, and
access the resources and
services so they can
thrive,” said Tucson Mayor
Regina Romero.

the vehicles. Light
refreshments will be
available.
