Tuesday, April 24, 7-8:30 p.m. at PCC: The 43-minute documentary, The Line: Poverty in America--
It's not what you think. This film was featured in Sojourners magazine, and looks at profiles four different people and their struggles for poverty. There will be time for discussion afterwards.
Tuesday, May 1, 7-8:30 p.m. at PCC. A speaker from the Ohio Poor Peoples' Campaign will come and share a presentation about what is going to be happening in Ohio and how people can get involved. This is an effort Rev. William Barber has been talking about, along with countless others. It is a National Movement effort, picking up on the dream unfulfilled of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The kick-off is the Monday after Mother's Day, and events are being held around 25 states, with actions planned at Statehouses around the nation on the Monday after Mother's Day. You and those you know who might be interested can learn more at this presentation.
Sunday, May 6, 2 p.m. at PCC. The Oberlin Spiritual Ensemble, a quartet of Oberlin College students, is presenting a concert as part of Remembering Rev. martin Luther King, Jr. There will be a reception following, with an opportunity to donate to the group as they launch their work. For those who have heard them, they sing many spirituals and other pieces, and it promises to be an inspiring and moving time.
