Job Title : Sr. Unix System Engineer
Location : Charlotte, NC
Duration : 6 months, however, this could go as long as 18 months and there is a potential to go perm.
Total Experience : 9 years
US Citizen and Green Card holders preferred, however, for the right candidate, we’ll submit H-1’s as well.
Skill Requirements:
- At least 5 years of strong hands on experience administering, monitoring and managing Solaris (8/9/10), SUSE Linux (9) and Red-Hat 4/5 environments.
- Over 5 years of experience with high-availability and Disaster-Recovery using technologies such as VERITAS Cluster Services, SRDF/BCVs are a must.
- Experience with VERITAS Volume Manager, Logical Volume Manager for the Linux operating system.
- Understanding on key dependencies on critical infrastructure such as LDAP, DNS, NIS and NFS and Auto Mounter.
- Demonstrable skills writing best-practice documentation and solution documents are a necessity. Establish/recommend policies and standards on systems and services. Generate support documents to communicate standards.
- Demonstrable experience with the administration or setup of Oracle/Sybase is a plus.
- Demonstrable leadership skills such as managing time, managing meetings and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Demonstrable experience designing solutions for application with n-Tier Architectures and GRID is a plus.
- Experience with storage systems including Net App, Hitachi, and EMC
- Capacity planning skills will be a plus.
- Demonstrable experience administering, setting-up or participating in initiatives with application servers such as JBoss, Web logic and Web sphere is a plus.
- Experience working in an extremely challenging and fast paced environment
Key Responsibilities
- Administration of the UNIX and Linux environments including validating environmental health and providing day-to-day support is a key area of responsibility.
- This individual will perform design and planning and execution activities on Sun Solaris, SUSE and Red-Hat Systems.
- The Wells Fargo Securities business is very dynamic with many un-anticipated changes. Deriving solutions in close partnership with the development teams and corporate technology teams and being ‘quick-on-one’s-feet’ is a needed trait for this position.
- Versatility is key measure to the success of this position. Candidates that demonstrate versatility between flavors of UNIX/Linux mentioned as well as in the areas of Storage Management, Performance Management (or) Database management will succeed in this position.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand the business and the application as well. Candidates who have done work engineering solutions for the business will be successful in this position.
- The individual will also research, analyze and incorporate emerging technologies into the UNIX environment.
- This individual will participate in a 24x7 on-call/pager support rotation with other team members.
