cui il poeta si finge precettore e guida. Pur rimasto incompiuto, "Il
giorno" è una caustica denuncia della nobiltà lombarda di fine
Settecento, incapace nella sua frivola incoscienza di comprendere un
mondo ormai sul baratro della Rivoluzione. La spinta al progresso
sociale e morale è il tema portante anche delle venticinque "Odi", con
cui Parini rinnovò nel profondo la poesia della tradizione settecentesca
portandola a nuovi esiti espressivi.

He has written three non-fiction books - Rescuing Da Vinci (2006), Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History (2007); and Saving Italy (2013) - chronicling the recovery of artwork stolen Il giorno. Edsel is the co-producer of the documentary film, The Rape of Europa (2007). He is also founder and Chairman of the Monuments Men Il giorno.
