EvoStar2018 - coordination arrangements

This is to let everyone know that Anna Esparcia and I will be coordinating EvoStar together this year, as the start of my eventual winding down begins. Having seen Anna in action for many years, she is more than capable of handling complex organisational tasks and our two pairs of eyes and hands will bring additional perspectives, and safeguards, to EvoStar.

Anna and I are looking forward to working with each other and have agreed in principle that Anna will focus on the CONTENT of the conferences including working with the conference chairs on various issues, such as coordinating invited speakers, overseeing accepted paper/author/abstract info, drafting the skeleton programme, student activities etc. Meanwhile I shall concentrate more on the PROCESS of conference finances and logistics including registrations, invoicing and payments, bursaries, sponsorships, coordinating with Springer, and liaising with Stefano on venue arrangements etc.

If you are contacting me or Anna, it would help if you include both of us in your mails, so we keep aware of all EvoStar issues. I shall send some updated info for the website in the next day or so and I would ask everyone to ensure that their own webpages and information are kept up-to-date (e.g. address changes).

Today is our extended submission deadline and we hope our submission numbers look good as we look forward to a good EvoStar 2018 in Parma!

Dear all

You may be aware of a problem we've been experiencing lately, with authors complaining that they did not get the notification of submission message from the system. This should have been fixed by Marc now, but we don't know how many people were affected by it (only those who complained)

As a result, some authors thought there was a problem with their submission and decided to submit their papers a second time.

So, can I ask you to check for  duplicated paper titles, and, if the case arises, notify the authors (using your own address, not via the system) and remove the duplicated entry?

EvoAPPS chairs: you can ask Kevin or myself to help you remove the affected papers.

Thanks Mauro, but remember this is not a problem with MyReview, but with the institution of the person receiving the mail (their spam filters are very restrictive)

So, even if it worked for you, it might not work for some authors.

...and the same goes for reviewers. We'll need to test this before sending the assignment notifications.

with EuroGP we did not have problems.

Me and Lukas did some tests with fake papers and we both receive the confirmation email.

No problems with EvoIasp either.

Regarding problems with myreview  I remember having problems if I added other addresses in the cc or bcc fields, when using myreview to send email.

I guess I'ver forgotten the proper URL...
