Is it even possible to use this Canon F166400 anymore with newest Ubuntu software. When I was using Ubuntu 16.04 I could use this driver for LBP7010C, but it was a struggle to get to work, and I have simply forgotten how I did it. With the newest Ubuntu 22.04 is it even possible to use this driver or printer.I have downloaded this driver file "linux-capt-drv-v271-uken.tar.gz" but I can't find out how to install it?
Note: For Ubuntu 18.04 LTS - 64 bit, after driver installation or after Linux operating system has been upgraded, the following command must be entered in a terminal window:

from the photo you posted, it seems that the printer is a small one, for barcode or label printing, therefore with graphical capabilities, but I'm not suggesting you to create your own kyrillic alphabet by drawing any single character as a .png file (and send each character as a text string to the printer), because it will be e real nightmare.
But: if you just print "Hello world" , is the printer working correctly ? Just to be sure that the problem is the font interprter ....

The "code type" is actually the types of barcode sets that the printer is capable to interpret (you send to the printer a string with alphanumeric characters and the printer translates the string in a sequence of bars).
I had a look to the site you posted, It reports that the printer is capable of managing "various" languages, and that there is a "contact-us" link. I therefore suggest you to ask the manufacturer how to select the language (provided that the printer has already the russian inside). Maybe you have to select the language by sending a special command sequence so to switch the interpreter to a specific language before sending a not standard alphabet. Give it a look.
Sorry @World_of_Games, but I don't understand: OK you found that, but where ? in the drivers of the printer ?
If so, that's nice, but at this point this means that you have to instruct the printer to apply the cyrillic in order to interpret what you are sending. So please check what is the command that you have to send to the printer to tell it to change the language. For sure, for example, there is somewhere in the users manual, a command sequence that you have to send to the printer in order to switch the barcode interpreter, so similarly I expect that there should be a command to select the alphabet.

ok, let's say, my definite thought is that you should tell the printer to switch to the correct language before sending the data you want to be printed. As for correctly printing the type of barcode you should tell in advance which type of barcode you want (i.e. EAN/UPC, the commercial one, rather the CODE 39, the pharmaceutical one), you sould as well instruct the printer to interpret the alphabet.
So check on the user manual (if you have it available) or ask the manufacturer.
POS-58 is a generic thermal receipt printer that is sold as a unbranded device, and sometimes sold under a number of different brands. Essentially they all use the same drivers to get setup. The driver and setup do appear to be thrown together very quickly.

What is Arduino? Arduino is an open source electronics company and platform which designs and sells microcontrollers. The boards they produce are the basis for many of the boards used for controlling 3D printers due to their open source nature and ease of use.
Some firmwares require additional libraries to be installed. These are additional pieces of software which the firmware utilizes to perform certain functions. For instance, one library commonly used by printer firmwares is U8glib which handles graphical LCD displays. If your printer has a graphical (not text based) screen then you will need this library.
This is the serial port you use to connect to your printer. This is the same as the serial port selected in MatterControl. If you have only one printer connected to your computer, then choose the only port available.
Finally, click the arrow button to upload the firmware to your printer. It will be automatically compiled if you have not done so already, and then the transfer will begin. This will take a minute or two; just be patient. When the process completes your printer will reboot.

The most important thing to remember when asking a question online is to include the full text of the error message. Whenever Arduino gives you an error, there will be a button above the console area which lets you copy the entire text. You can then post it using a service like Pastebin.
You are using an older firmware which is not compatible with the latest versions of Arduino. Arduino 1.6 and later broke compatibility with older versions. Some printers still use older firmware which has not been updated yet. You will need to install Arduino version 1.0.6. You can find it here:
