The announcement also said that the agreement demonstrates their "intention to become a vehicle," but as rough as the past two years have been, we're going to chalk that one up to a translation error rather than early signs of an existential crisis ...

Electric Dreams: A Closer Look At The Honda EV Plus
MAR 02, 2022 ... The Honda EV Plus is a highly significant, yet completely forgotten automotive treasure ... Honda was an early tester of electric-powered vehicles. In fact, the company was the first mainstream car brand to produce an electric car that used a nickel-metal hydride battery instead of one made with lead-acid. The car was the Honda EV Plus, and it was produced from 1997 until 1999 ... powered by a 288V nickel-metal hydride and a DC Brushless motor, according to electricvehiclesnews.com. The transmission is a single-speed version with reverse. And in terms of power, it makes a maximum of 66 horsepower. When it comes to speed, the Honda EV Plus could accelerate from rest to 30 mph in 4.9 seconds, and it could attain a top speed of 80 mph ...

% Personal experience: back in the late 1990s, I would sign
my life away to drive production EVs that I would take to
EVents to promote EVs to the public. Compared to the tmc
gen1 RAV4-EV, the hmc EV+ was roomier, drove with more
stability (lower center of gravity), was easier to charge
as it used the simpler, more affordable conductive
(metal2metal contact / non-gm-inductive wireless) AVCON
EVSE. hmc EV+ obtained an easy 90+mi NiMh range.
Note: when gm used a legal loop-hole to not produce EVs
(just give away golf-cart/nEVs for CARB-credits), all the
other big7 automakers also pulled &crushed their
production EVs off consumer lease (made them unavailable
to the public). Like gm who crushed/destroyed most of
their perfectly good EV1 EVs, hmc also crushed/destroyed
their EV+ EVs. It wasn't that EVs were bad or no-good,
it is that automakers saw nil profits in EVs. That EVs
would not generate the huge replacement part profits
that selling ice has (ice self destruct).
