Dear Friends,
China Education Symposium is a student run organization at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We strive to promote conversations on education in China and to support education initiatives aimed at improving China’s education. China Education Symposium currently has more than 400 members made up of scholars, policy makers, business leaders and students interested in improving China’s education. The annual conference is China Education Symposium’s capstone event, attracting more than 200 attendees annually. Past speakers at China Education Symposium include Professor Howard Gardner, Professor Fernando Reimers, presenters from Teach for China, Harvard China SEED, and Sunshine Library, etc.
As the CES annual conference approaches, we would like to invite innovative education- or youth-related organizations to consider joining our unique pitch session. The pitch session is intended to serve as a platform for compassionate NGOs and student organizations to voice their missions, share their initiatives, and receive invaluable feedback and resources (detailed below) from our experienced judges and engaged audience. Here are the specifics of the session:
Date: May 18th, 2013 (afternoon)
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts (somewhere on campus of Harvard University)
Participants: 5 NGO or student organization finalists
Format: Each team presents and receives questions and feedback from judges. Total duration of any one team’s presentation is limited to approximately 15 minutes; if there is time left, the presenting team may take a question or two from the audience as well.
Prize: Judges will engage in a final discussion after all teams have presented and announce at the end of the pitch session the top team that will receive the following resources:
$1000 of funding;
News interview with Sinovision, 美国中文电视台; and broadcasting over their news channels, online channels, and China Press (侨报）;
Referral to other incubator resources (which may include China Citizenship and Social Innovation SEED Camp in Boston, Massachusetts);
Other top teams will receive publicity opportunities through HCES's official website, HCES's mailing list, and possibly Sinovision's channels.
If you are in charge of, help out, or know of any such non-profit / student organizations, you are encouraged to contact us or refer the organization(s) to us. To be considered for participation, please send along a one- to two-page proposal in English that covers the following topics:
The applicant’s basic contact info (name, phone, email, relationship to the recommended organization);
The organization’s mission, current activities, and near-future development plan (within the next year or two)
Why the organization is interested in participating in the pitch session
We will select top entries and notify all participants of the next steps. Please email your submission to our pitch manager Lily Zhu (jia...@post.harvard.edu). Submission deadline is March 30th (Saturday), 2013.
If the organization you would like to recommend is not based in the local region but has representatives who are nearby and can present on behalf of the organization, we welcome your submission as well.
Lastly, please spread the words! We truly hope to hear and pull together the voices of diverse education-related organizations to spark bigger, better, and bolder ideas.

今年的教育论坛年会正在紧锣密鼓地筹备当中，而我们今年将会延续年会特色之一，邀请有代表性的与教育或青年发展相关的组织来展示他们的声音。项目展示环节承载着传播新想法、鼓励跨界思维碰撞的使命；两小时的交流时间虽不算多，但我们希望这可以成为志同道合的朋友们未来合作的开始，让好的教育想法收获所需资源并得以实践。至此，我们欢迎更多的非营利组织参与这个平台及分享你们的理念和项目。具体活动安排如下：
时间：2013年5月18日（下午，具体时间待定）
地点：哈佛大学校园（在教育学院附近或里面）
参与者：5个有代表性的与教育相关的非营利组织
形式：每支受邀队伍将通过幻灯片或其他途径展示他们的项目，之后评委团会提出针对性的问题或反馈。每支队伍演示时间总长不超过15分钟，若在初步展示及评委交流后仍有剩余时间，演示队伍可与观众进行更深入的交流。
资源：评委团将在所有队伍完成演示后进行简短讨论，最后选出1个优胜组，代表年会颁发用于组织发展的1000美元的资助金。优胜队伍并同是获得美国中文电视台的访谈邀请，线上与线下（包括侨报）的宣传,以及被推荐给提供其他资源的组织，接受进一步培训或资助。
其他优胜队伍将获得教育论坛官网以及邮件群（大概400来个成员）的宣传，也有可能同时获得美国中文电视台的宣传。
如果您参与管理或运营符合本次活动条件的非营利组织，我们非常欢迎您报名参加这次活动！报名方式很简单：您只需要发送一份一到两页、包括以下内容的英文提议书：
申请人的基本信息（包括姓名，联系电话，电邮，与推荐的组织的关系）；
所推荐的组织的理念，项目，以及未来一到两年的发展蓝图、策略；
此组织希望参与本次展示的主要原因
请将您的提议书发送给我们的项目展示负责人，朱嘉莉（jia...@post.harvard.edu） 。截止日期为3月30日（周六）。
如果您想推荐的组织并不在波士顿或附近地区但有可以代表它参与展示的本地人士，我们也同样欢迎他们申请参加本次活动。
