Vhalla is a young apprentice of the library. She leads an ordinary life until one night, the Crown Prince Aldrik returns to the capital near death. It is her research that saves the dark prince. Unbeknownst the her, the notes she wrote that night have faint traces of magic that leads Aldrik to her. Vhalla's world is turned upside down when she is told that she is the very thing that she has been raised to fear - a sorcerer.
Now, Vhalla has the decision of a lifetime to make and only a short time to do so. She must choose whether or not to accept the rare gift bestowed upon her or to eliminate that part of herself for good. Along the way she will learn the beginnings of magic, but with every deal there are stipulations. Vhalla's path is one filled with danger and intrigue from forces unknown to her.

I've seen this book floating about here and there, but I didn't heed much attention to it until Tika over at Fangirl Confessions recomended it to me. She was so, so right about it being amazing. In the beginning I felt unsure, and I lowkey sighed because I thought I was wasting my time with it. But give or take 30-40 pages I couldn't stop reading. I have the dark circles to prove it (ha! they're permanent because who needs sleep when there are BOOKS AND HOT PRINCES).FANGIRLING PREVAILED HARDCORE. Okay let me be the first to say that I need a good romance/ship in my fantasy books. I am a sucker for romance because I'm a lonely little dweeb and I like to imagine that men like Prince Aldrik actually exist. But more importantly, I need a romance with actual chemistry. Vhalla and Aldrik clashed at first, honestly I thought Aldrik was an absolute prick in the beginning but GIVE HIM TIME PEOPLE. I adored these two, more than I ever thought I would. FUCKING PERFECTION ALRIGHT. I wish I could elaborate further but I'll let you guys experience it when you read it.
Onwards and upwards. Elise Kova did a phenomenal job in making the story full - yet fast paced. While I would usually say that some of the events happened much too fast, they didn't - it just worked so well here. Plus, I would sooner have a fast paced story than one that is painfully slow. Me and slow books just don't work (for the most part). Kova's writing was also one of my favorite parts of Air Awakens; it proved to be sharp, witty and held my attention the entire way through. She's also not afraid of taking risks which I loved. This woman is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Usually in fantasy books you get this bodacious, beautiful and kick-ass female right off the bat - which I don't really like. I mean in some cases it's okay. But I found myself relating to Vhalla far more than most other female characters I have come across. First of all, she LOVES books. Totally adores them, which obviously is something many of us can relate to. But my real favorite part was that she starts out small and unsure of herself. She's a nobody, she isn't a special snowflake, she's just a servant living her normal life. And even when she became powerful, she didn't lose who she was before. That in it's own right makes her one of the most kickass YA characters in my opinion. I just love her because I see a bit of me there, which truth be told - hasn't happened until her.
The plot and the world were also interesting key factors of Air Awakens. I loved learning about the different factions of sorcerers (there's a name for them but it escapes me at the moment). They kind of reminded me of the element benders on the anime called Avatar: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water which is really wicked. I really look forward to reading more on what the sorcerers can do. UGH THE CLIFFHANGER AT THE END WILL KILL ME SO I MUST GO BEGIN BOOK TWO NOW.
Don't know if anyone can help here, but I was up late one night earlier this week in Townsville (not sure which night actually) and was watching this cheesy old B movie about a dentist who fakes his own death and takes his dead twin's identity...only to discover that his brother was a horribly corrupt ex-CIA agent
I know what you're thinking..."Sounds Super!"lol Anyway, at the ad breaks it was advertising the film as 'Consequences', but I have not been able to find it anywhere. I'm trying to find the name of the lead actor. Any help would be appreciated.
"Adapted from an Appalachian Jack Tale set in the late 1940s, this tale follows a World War II veteran named Jack who, in return for an act of kindness, receives two magical gifts: a sack that can catch anything and a jar that can show whether a sick person will recover or die. Jack becomes a national hero when he rescues the president's daughter from a serious illness by capturing Death in his magic sack. However, after many years without Death in the world, Jack realizes that he has upset the natural order and releases Death to save humankind from perpetual old age and misery."
1. That a stealth plane docks onto the underside of the hijacked jet. People then unload from the stealth plane and board the hijacked aircraft. Their objective is to then disable a bomb that is on the plane. They find the bomb, but the first one is a fake, the real one is further in and protected by red lasers.
2. In one scene before the us Air force is about to destroy the hijacked plane, one of the pilots notices that the tail lights are flashing in Morse code, they then decide not to blow the plane up, and give it more time.
3. I think it then goes on to them landing the hijacked plane at an airport, but the two pilots are dead, so the main character must then land the plane. He then spies an airstrip that he is familiar with, so he aims for that. As he lands he wipes out about 50 small aircraft.
From what I remember, it was in French. A French girl (early 20s) was working in Japan. She struggled with the language, to come to terms with Japanese customs and working conditions, and ended up doing strange things like sleeping in the office. She had poor relationships with her bosses except the CEO, who seemed to 'accept' her.
It was a brilliant movie. A really simple plot but very moving and acting was great from what I remember. Sorry for such a vague description, I'd love to watch it again but no idea what it was called.
people digging and they either found aliens in the ground
ok... BEFORE i go on a wild goose chase...
HOW do you qualify those "aliens"... meaning are they really ETs...
or just look-alike as perceived by a child then...
I think it might have been in England and they were digging a tunnel and found a "Space ship" buried there. I remember dream sequences of the alien "Grasshoppers" hundreds of them hopping along, might have been a war.. not sure. It's a very long time since I saw it, racking the old brain for memories!!

hmmmm...
there was a Brit horror movie about some interplanetary archaeologists... who encountered a big grasshopper creature which impregnated one of them... BUT was released in early 80s...
It was released recently (1-3 years ago), featuring interconnecting relationships
among urban young professionals set in modern Mumbai.
It's a "serious" movie and doesn't include any Bollywood-type dancing and music.
On and off for 30 years I had tried to find the name of this move but had been unsuccessful, nor had I ever seen it on TV again (not that I would have recognised the name in the TV guide as I didn't know it).
I made a post (see link below) but it was closed advising me that I should have posted here. Just before it was closed I received a correct answer from Sturge who I have since been unable to contact.

- One of the women is a hypnotherapist and uses one of her male patients to make voice recordings which they playback to security guards during the robbery, to make them think its a group of men. They have some kind of setup with speakers in their scuba masks (which they never take off during the robbery)
This is what I can remember from the plot:
- Two brothers mother suffers from severe Alzheimer's disease.
- Brothers invent a drug that either increases peoples overall happiness or reduces aggression (cannot recall which).
- Drug is spread through rain clouds, added to water supplies.
- People begin to start suffering of dementia and Alzheimer's all over the world, cause is found to be this "magical" drug.
- Towards the end of the movie, one of the brothers asks the other to kill him with a fatal dose of their drug. This leads to the storyteller to begin and is essentially bringing the movie to the present moment.
- Brother telling the story also injects himself with fatal dose of the drug, committing suicide in front of the camera.
I hope someone can tell me the name of this really bad Sci-Fi movie from (I think) the early to mid 90's. I've spent ages on IMDB and google but it's probably one of those forgotten films no one cares enough to write about.
The soldiers need to get into the lab (which is partially destroyed), and need the code. The security system locks them in and starts a countdown to release poison gas, so they need to use a palmtop computer to crack the code. The scientist punches in his code which unlocks the door with seconds to spare. One of the soldiers looks at the corpse of someone who came before and shouts "motherf%$^ shoulda had the code!"
Someone is robbing a bank (possibly jewelery store or similar), and has hostages. The police negotiator comes & he hands him something, turns out to be an ear or finger or something wrapped up. The robber knows the police procedures and thats all i can remeber.
In the movie, there's a high status couple set in (feudal?) Japan. The guy has some chick penpal, and eventually falls in love with her. Of course, she doesn't like this and sleeps with some guy out of spite (i'm not sure about this last thing actually. can't remember if my friend was describing another movie or something :S). Anyway, that guy went to visit the penpal and yeah. I don't remember what happened after that.
