to Evidence For God
We've just seen an unusual debate between Richard Dawkins and the
Australian Catholic Archbishop George Pell on ABC TV. Dawkins normally
avoids these situations and I can see why... he's ill equipped to
handle the nonsense that guys like Pell peddle and just comes across
as an angry twerp. Regardless it was bracing to see a grown man like
Pell insist that 'bodily resurrection' awaits all good humans after
death, as he confirmed good atheists were welcome in catholic heaven
too (whew!).

It says something that atheists are viewed as wacky when this sort of
drivel gets past the moderators. I was around 11 years old when I
wrote a piece called 'heaven must be full of old people' as I thought
then that resurrecting the dead would mean exactly that. Pell of
course couldn't fill in the details, he's just certain it will happen.

how do they get away with it?

... he confirmed good atheists were welcome in catholic heaven
too (whew!).  Well, do 'good' Atheists want to go to heaven?

It depends. Will God allow us to make up our own version of heaven like he allowed the biblical characters? Constant streets paved with gold would give me a headache after some time. Multiple virgins would leave me in a constant state of exhaustion. I need to be able to recreate my version of heaven every ten years or so to keep from becoming everlastingly bored. Maybe God will write a latest addition soon and explain a little more.

If you are a Location kind of guy, Tim, you eventually might to find Heaven a boring, somewhat unfair, even meaningless place.
But what about the Heaven,a-State-of-Mind-concept as the alternative?

Oh, you mean like white Anglo-Saxon male living in America state-of-mind-concept? LOL

I suppose that if it is a state of mind where it would cause constant eternal dreaming of pleasure . But I doubt if it could work because there is no such thing as pleasure without opposition. You could not possibly identify with it. The best one could hope for is nothingness, dead like the rock, reality :) God was goot to us! ha ha ha

Tim, it sounds to like like the words of an Indifferentist,
(Which, by the way, is not the same as being an agnostic – an agnostic
might actually care about the answers to the “Big Questions”, whereas Indifferentists couldn’t give a monkey’s.)

Still no hope for us 'bad' atheists then...

Stll this body is rapidly becoming disfunctional so I wouldn't really want an eternity of being undead in it.

'bad atheist'? Isn't that some one who is not really a proper or true atheist? Or what is your definition of a 'bad atheist'?

The opposite of a 'good atheist' - from Musycks quote: '...he confirmed good atheists were welcome in catholic heaven'. Presumably 'bad' people are not and 'bad' atheists doubly not.  Being both 'bad' and an atheist (separate categories) I have no chance.

Definition of 'bad' : 'oh you are awful' Dick Emery q.v.
