Household Items You Can Sell Right Now for Big Bucks Posted: 30 Jun 2014 07:48 PM PDT Household Items You Can Sell Right Now for Big Bucks is a post originally published on: Everything Finance - Everything Finance - Its all about Money!
All you need to do is list them online and have enough courage to let them go! Not only will you bring in the cash, but you’ll declutter your house in the process. Here are some ideas: 1. Your Guest BedMost homes have a guest room with a guest bed or a basement with a pull out sofa. If you can’t make your mortgage payment, you don’t need to worry about guests so go ahead and list your guest bedroom items on Craigslist! People have this sense that every room in their house has to be filled with something, and that’s just not the case. Is it more important that you keep your house or have a sofa to sit on? Chances are, in a really dire situation, you could sell most of your furniture and buy replacements at thrift stores. By selling your guest bedroom furniture, you should be able to get at least $300-$500 depending on the condition. 2. Christmas ItemsThis one will work best if it’s close to Christmas-time, but the truth is, there are enough people who are crazy about Christmas and buy these things year round. Go in your attic or basement and find your stashes of Christmas stuff. We all probably have way more than we need anyway. List your items in the paper, on Craigslist, or on eBay and let them go! You do not need thousands and thousands of Christmas lights. Cold hard cash is much better than that! 3. Your ClothesMany consignment stores will give you cash on the spot for your clothing. If you are tight for cash, go through your closets. See if you have any extra shoes or expensive scarves or purses that you no longer need. Go through your children’s closets too. Many children’s clothing stores give credit too so you can always go back and purchase the next size up, which saves you a lot of money in the future. 4. Your AppliancesDo you have a grill outside? Do you have a fridge in your garage? If so, summer is the ideal time to sell them. Sure they might be great to have on hand for the warmer months, but if you are in a position where you are behind on bills, you don’t need to be the person to host the summer barbeque. It sounds harsh, but if you want to get back on track in terms of your finances, sometimes you have to make hard decisions and part with things you might not have previously in order to make a few bucks. So, what about you? Would you ever sell some of your furniture or appliances in order to make some extra money? What’s the one thing you would never sell no matter how badly your finances were hurting?

When Your Second Child is a Different Gender – How to Save Money Posted: 03 Jul 2014 09:58 AM PDT When Your Second Child is a Different Gender – How to Save Money is a post originally published on: Everything Finance - Everything Finance - Its all about Money!
1. First, Who Cares if Some Things Are the Wrong Gender: While I don’t want to dress any future boys of mine in hand-me down dresses, it is fine if they are in a pink car seat or rocker. Not that many people will see the girly items, and plus, babies outgrow equipment so quickly, so it isn’t worth buying new gear. Similarly, baby girls can definitely reuse boy-themed gear and people will most likely not notice. 2. Exchange: See if you can exchange items with a friend or even through a Facebook seller’s group. It is worth asking if anyone will trade your pink butterfly pack and play for a manlier version. 3. Consign: If you cannot find anyone to exchange gear with you, perhaps you can sell all of your baby items at a consignment shop. You will receive a higher credit if you choose to get your payout in store credit. This will allow you to buy the essentials that you need. 4. Buy Lots: If I am having a baby boy, I do have two family members to borrow clothes from. The problem is that this baby will be opposite seasons as the other two. Therefore, I plan to find a baby boy clothes lot through Craigslist, Ebay, or a Facebook selling group. Buying clothes in a lot like this means that you will score each piece from .25-$1, which is a lot cheaper than buying the pieces individually through a consignment store. Thrift stores are also a good place to look for baby clothes, since they receive so many of them. They generally price their baby clothes under $1 per piece. 5. What’s Wrong with Having Another Shower: Many people may say that it is not right to have another baby shower, especially if you already had one. However, if someone wants to throw one for you, it really should not be a big deal. Many moms will understand that you need more diapers and clothes. Forget what the naysayers say about having a baby shower for your second child and enjoy being blessed with gifts. If you are truly worried about what family or friends will say, try to have a shower with people who didn’t get to attend the first time, such as church friends or co-workers. So at the beginning on next year if this little babe is actually a boy, you can know that he might be sleeping in a pink room with pink damask bedding for a while. Obviously this is not because I don’t care about little man’s masculinity, but the truth is, he will not even notice for the first few years of his life anyways. I might as well save the money for something wiser. When your second child was a different gender, did you spend a lot of money? |
