In effect Trump is already doing that. Ukraine has not received any weapons or money to fight Putin for the last two years, but because of Trump's war with Iran, which for reasons never made clear he decided to start, and the perfectly predictable blockage of the Strait of Hormuz and the resulting surge in oil prices, Putin is making an additional $150 million from its oil exports. And that is money Putin desperately needs to continue his war with Ukraine.

And using $1 billion of taxpayer money to bribe a French company to stop building a huge wind farm just off our coast is especially bonkers right now because the one big advantage China has over the US in the AI race is that it produces over twice as much electricity as the US. And if the US wins the AI race rather than China I think the human race would have a slightly better chance of surviving the Singularity meat grinder.
