[Philip BenjaminDefinitions of WAMP, ‘Awakening’ etc. are given at the bottom.

Chemical equation of combustion of the petroleum hydrocarbons is generally: CnH 2n+2 +(1 +3n) [O]  → n CO2 +(n + 1) H 2O, where ‘n’ ranges from 6 to 10. For the simplest methane (n=1) it is CH4+ [4 O]  -> CO2+ 2 H2O+ energy..  For each C atom 4 O atoms (i.e. 2 O2 molecules) are removed from the atmosphere, potentially causing an oxygen depletion which will be disastrous, but never occurred. The carbon cycle takes care of that contingency. There  are over 6000 byproducts of oil and gas industries, very essential for civilized life, from pharmaceuticals to fertilizers, none of which is available from wind and solar energy productions.

Pagan WAMP GIGO computer models will not and cannot give a threshold danger level of CO2. The greenhouse effect is for a closed system, unlike the open earth’s atmosphere which is subject to all kinds of external causes (ultraviolet, cosmic rays, solar flares, sunspots etc.). Both CO2 gas and H2O vapor absorb infrared rays, but the H2O is eventually condensed into liquid water (causing no catastrophic rise in sea levels, from any meteorology department which is the only division accredited for climate or weather science).

The greenhouse effect traps heat (infrared rays from sun’s light) close to the “goldilocks” Earth's surface by “greenhouse gases and vapors”, which include CO2, CH4,  NO & NO2, and H2O vapor. These respond physically or chemically to changes in temperatures--  a "feedback" effect. Science has determined that without the beneficial CO2, earth's  surface would be ~33°C (59°F) cooler (https://climate.nasa.gov/faq/19/what-is-the-greenhouse-effect/).

.  An estimated 1,050 wildfires worldwide produced global CO2 emissions of 76 billion tons in 2021. There are at least 5000 years of recorded history, i.e 76 billions X 5,000 = 380 trillion tons of CO2. Add to it ~ 3.2 trillion tons for the same period from volcanic eruptions (see below), thus totaling 383.2 trillions of CO2

[Volcanisms (excluding numerous Submarine volcanoes) are estimated to emit about 645 million tons of CO2 per year.  Ethan Siegel a science contributor of Forbes omits the total for say at least 5000 years of volcanisms, totaling 3,225,000 million or 3.2 trillion tons of CO2].    The global Marxist-socialist pagan climatology pundits with UC do not and cannot determine how much CO2 will be needed to make the ‘goldilocks’ greenhouse effect dangerous.

https://ourworldindata.org/co2-emissions#global-co2-emissions-from-fossil-fuels-global-co2-emissions-from-fossil-fuels

Greenhouse gas emissions from global road travel: is about 33 billion tons, reports the World Bank as annual emission from burning fossil fuels, a little less than 1% of present atmospheric CO2. This multiplied by about 150 years (50 years past & 100 years future of climatology pseudoscience) of fossil fuel use equals a meager ~ 5.1 trillion tons of CO2, compared to 380 trillion tons of CO2 from forest fires alone for at least 5000 years of recorded history. And the earth did survive with the additional 3.2 trillion from earth quakes, (thanks to carbon-cycle and other natural factors).

Consciousness: Awakened & Un-awakened.

A . Philosophic & Historical Context

Moses : An example of Awakened Consciousness (AC) Burning Bush Awakening by Adonai (plural) YHWH (singular) Elohim (uni-plural).

YHWH= [I AM THAT I AM] the Self-existingt Being (with aseity, where the infinite regress stops).

Pharaoh:  A specimen of Pagan Un-awakened Consciousness  (UC)

Pagan Pharoah’s dictates:

  1. No more supply of straw, but diminish not the bricks
  2. Kill all male babies of Israel, Egypt’s choice for a ‘woke’ pagan culture of death is more important.

WAMP dictates:

1 . No new drilling or fracking, but produce more oil and gas

2 . Kill the babies, women’s choice is more important for election of ‘woke’ pagan politicians of un-awakened (unregenerate) consciousness.

‘Awakening’ in Augustinian philosophy refers to the “self” or “inner man” of the Patriarchal, Prophetic and Apostolic Scriptures.

B . Self-Consciousness: The Scientific Context.

If at all-- a big IF indeed--  the “self” is to be subject to any scientific study, the invisible “self” must be objectively real. For that, the only candidate now available for science is bio dark-matter with its own computational chemistries (or chemical bonds which are spin governed particle configurations of duets and octets).

Where matter exists, chemistry exists. Dark-matter cannot be an exception. Consider  also Amrit Sorli’s experiments on “Additional Mass Of Life” in bio- growth in hermetically sealed tubes.  https://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.218.573. The resonant twins of bio light-matter with its chemistry (which is electric, entropic, non-enduring) and of bio dark-matter with its chemistry (which is nonelectric, nonentropic, enduring) are cocreated at the moment of conception. They form the basis of “self- consciousness. Resonance is rudimentary recognition. It is  a frequency based phenomenon.

Bio dark-matter twin needs to be awakened by an external POWER. In the Augustinian Western thought, this POWER was Adonai (plural) YHWH (singular) Elohim (uni-plural). The ‘stiff neck’ of the “dark-twin bodies” of tyrants scoff at any begging, compromise, appeasement and apology. They recognize only the lexis of force and power.

An ‘Augustinian transformation’ (https://www.midwestaugustinians.org/conversion-of-st-augustine) is the very antithesis of ‘woke or cancel’ culture now endorsed by diabolically deceitful and self-serving brutish billionaires, politicians, bureaucrats, journalists and jurists (all with Un-awakened Consciousness or UC). ‘Woke’ is pseudonym for despotic, globalist, Marxist-socialist-fascist Progressive PAGAN utopia of dictates and mandates  to which everyone is either a conformist or non-conformist.

In Woke Culture, Augustine is no saint, but an extreme right wing extremist!

Only a Third “Great Awakening” (for which Marxist pagan Stalin unconsciously  coined the phrase “American Exceptionalism”) can effect a “transformation of individual consciousness”, to avert the West from the tyranny of Marxist paganism of Utopian dictates and mandates. Simple reasoning and straightforward logic need be applied to unfamiliar situations, notions, opinions and ideas with an OPEN mind. Each situation will be obviously different, but the basic logic remains the same, such as Law of Noncontradiction, Law of Causality, aseity, infinite regress etc.  Only then can one look past one’s own biases and pave the way for a  more “conscious” or “awakened” awareness.

Once upon a time that was the essence of Western scholarship (until the WAMP appeared to dominate, dictate and mandate). For example, the Physical Resurrection was critically subjected to the universal Laws of Evidence and proven lawful by the once atheist Harvard Law Founder Simon Greenleaf. Will the WAMP allow the students critical thinking on the un-evidential trans-speciation of ape to human consciousness? There was a time— for over 1500 years altogether--  when not a single soul in the West would dare to question the intellect of Augustine (once a Greco-Roman profligate pagan) and Aquinas!! Now, WAMP-the-Ingrate has not even heard of those names! There was a time when Theology was the Queen of Science, because it was not easy to get into  theology major without a mastery of the ancient languages, arts and sciences of those days (based on the brilliant Ptolemaic geocentricism, not ecclesiasticism as the WAMP construes. American and European traditions for over two thousand years is Patriarchal, Prophetic, Apostolic (especially from Athenian Mars Hill discourse onwards), Augustinian, Thomist, Reformational, Puritan (the “Two Great Awakenings”).

[Note: If mind is real and invisible, is there any candidate for science other than bio dark-matter with its chemistry. i.e. chemical bonds which are spin governed particle configurations Then the resonant dark & light twin bodies are cocreated at the moment of conception. Resonance is rudimentary recognition].

“While the study doesn't present a complete simulation of a climate model, it does paint a broad sketch of where we're heading if we don't curtail climate change and our unchecked use of fossil fuels, according to the study authors, scientists in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Porto in Portugal”. .

https://www.princeton.edu/news/2022/04/28/unchecked-global-emissions-track-initiate-mass-extinction-marine-life . Liana Wait for the High Meadows Environmental Institute. April 28, 2022, 2 p.m.

The paper’s authors modeled future marine biodiversity under different projected climate scenarios. [GIGO computer modeling is not science], They found that if emissions are not curbed, species losses from warming [and oxygen depletion] alone could come to mirror the substantial impact humans already have on marine biodiversity by around 2100. Tropical waters would experience the greatest loss of biodiversity, while polar species are at the highest risk of extinction, the authors reported. “Aggressive and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are critical for avoiding a major mass extinction of ocean species,” said senior author Curtis Deutsch, a professor of geosciences and the High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton.  The study found, however, that reversing greenhouse gas emissions could reduce the risk of extinction by more than 70%.

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/ocean-life-projected-to-die-off-in-mass-extinction-if-emissions-remain-high/3670525/ May 1, 2022

“The new models suggest Earth could approach Permian levels of marine extinction by 2300 if emissions continue to increase. As temperatures rise, according to the research, species richness will decline near the tropics, with some animals migrating toward higher latitudes. Polar species are most at risk, as their habitat becomes a "disappearing climate niche," the paper explains… That’s the takeaway from a study published Thursday in the journal Science, which found that many ocean creatures could face conditions too warm and with too little oxygen to survive if we don't turn things around. The more warming, the fewer species are likely to survive, the results show.”

2 . For every Carbon atom (atomic mass=12) introduced, two Oxygen atoms (atomic mas = 16 each) are removed from the atmosphere. The WAMP has not shown any panic so far over oxygen depletion which is more life threatening than green house warming which has many  benefits for the biosphere (plants favor both CO2 and warming.

3 . About 80% of icebergs are under water and have already displaced the sea level. About 1.7 % of the Earth's water is locked in ice, When ice melts there is 9-10% less volume; Why do the WAMP alarmists proclaim that the melting ice will raise sea levels? Aa floating iceberg causes no effect on the sea level.

4 . 70% of Earth is water while land is only about 30% (US Geological Society). The extra water to raise the sea level to any height has to come from some extra-terrestrial or subterranean sources. That will be of Biblical proportions!! “All the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” — Genesis 7:11.

C .  Robots Slightly Sentient—like slightly pregnant?

MIT researcher Tamay Besiroglu should know that there is no such thing as “ slight consciousness”, any more than slight pregnancy. All sentience or consciousness is “limited”, i.e. finite. Self-awareness is an important component of all awareness (consciousness). No robot is self-aware.

Where matter exists, chemistry exists. Dark-matter cannot be an exception. For science today the only candidate matter available for an invisible but REAL intelligent physical body, is bio dark-matter with its computational bio dark-matter chemistries (i.e. spin governed configurational chemical bonds). Refer also to Amrit Sorli’s experiments on “Additional Mass Of Life” of growing organisms in hermetically sealed tubes. https://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.218.573. The resonant twins of light-matter (electric, entropic, decaying) and bio dark-matter (nonelectric, nonentropic, enduring) cocreated at the moment of conception form the basis of “self-consciousness. Resonance is frequency based phenomenon of rudimentary recognition. Bio dark-matter twin needs to be awakened by an external POWER.

Will a sentient robot be an atheist or theist? Should it not be a polytheist, since many “human gods” created it? Male Robot? Female Robot? Offspring robot consciously desiring a pablum of metal powder and Vaseline?

    4.  CopenPagan Misinterpretation.

Particle ≠ Wave. Even in nuclear explosions the nucleons remain nucleons, only the binding energies ( mass defects) are released as energies. Consciousness or the “observing” apparatus cannot and does not covert particle to wave. The bands of interference patterns are detected on a photodetector—a series of particle hits, not wave hits! World views matter. Puritan Quaker Thomas Young and “devout Catholic” Louis de Broglie presented wavelike properties of particles (photons, electrons), not waviness, while Taoist Niels Bohr talked about mystical particle-wave duality. What is needed here is an AS IF logic, not a Both/& Fallacy, leading to absurdities such as ‘consciousness’ involvement, ‘Many Worlds’ speculation etc. “Who has put wisdom in the innermost being, Or given understanding to the mind?” Job 38:36.

All of this is nonsense. You don't think models take these things into account? Hansen wrote his paper in 1981 and I did read it later. The paper uses the Stephan-Boltzmann equation or theory and the thermal properties of CO_2, and computed a rough estimate for how CO_2 would trap heat and warm Earth. CO_2 has a large cross-section with IR; it absorbs and re-emits it. This is why it traps heat. Hansen's model was very accurate for the entire Earth, the warming of the Earth on average has proceeded exactly as Hansen predicted. The more complex models are meant to refine this to predict more regional and local climate and weather changes.

The Earth didn't survive 5000yrs WITH 383e12 tons of CO2, because there's a carbon cycle in which CO2 gets split and carbon gets sequestered in soil, plants, and rocks.  And what the hell would "recorded history" have to do with it.  Why not just multiply by 14 billion years if you just want a big number completely irrelevant to CO2 in the atmosphere.  Here was the flow estimated in 2001.  The point is the system, however much vulcanism, was in equilibrium for those 5000yr before the industrial revolution.

[Philip BenjaminDefinitions of WAMP, ‘Awakening’ etc. are given toward the bottom.

Chemical equation of combustion of the petroleum hydrocarbons is generally: CnH 2n+2 +(1 +3n) [O]  → n CO2 +(n + 1) H 2O, where ‘n’ ranges from 6 to 10; n=8 is octane, 9 is diesel oil, 10 is aviation fuel. For the simplest methane (n=1) it is CH4+ [4 O]  -> CO2+ 2 H2O+ energy..  For each C atom introduced, 4 O atoms (i.e.

The greenhouse effect is for a closed system,

Utter nonsense.  It is the difference between radiant energy from the Sun and energy radiated to space from the Earth's atmosphere.  It is anything but "closed".

unlike the open earth’s atmosphere which is subject to all kinds of external causes (ultraviolet, cosmic rays, solar flares, sunspots etc.).

And exactly the same science has determined that our present insertion of CO2 into the atmosphere is going to raise the Earth's average surface temperature about 4degK.

That last time Earth face this was the end of the Permian. The Siberian flats, a massive diatreme of volcanos poured lava into massive peat bogs or lignite material and burned them. This resulted in a massive release of CO_2, which is increasingly thought to be the cause of the Permian extinction. We human by burning buried hydrocarbons and carbon are engineering much the same sort of event. The carbon cycle is in some sort of homeostasis that is rapidly impacted by a huge increase in CO_2. In fact we human are probably far more rapid than the Siberian flats volcanos. There is a time delay of response. We may by our activities be engineering the 6th mass extinction.

By the way Brent, when I was on the ancient Kurzweil forum *(when it was a forum) I was corrected by a Dutch guy who was a software engineer from there, who corrected me, when I questioned why he mentioned that he had his companies health insurance. Why he even needed that, since even I knew that The Netherlands has public medicine for decades, already?? He told me, "My company cares about their employees sick days and health that they paid for us not get sick."

When I asked him what the mean't I was told me, "We don't have to wait to see a doctor."

Let us let them have the last word, unless you're afraid of hearing "whataboudism" which is a way of refusing to compare and contrast, and thus deliberately avoid facts that go against one's ideology. You know what ideology is, it's like a religion!

We might through better engineering curtail much of this 6th extinction. For me, I like the Snowball Earth  theory which indicated that at least 150 million years before the Reptiles (not the Dinos) Earth was a cold ball in space because of so much plankton spewing out oxygen after gobbling up CO2 in the atmosphere that things sorta froze.

Below is an artist's depiction of life emerging from Snowball Earth. Yep! Its all there. Coniferous plants (obviously ferns), the first deciduous flowering plants, and, um, some cold guy.

I'd rather debate, but first gather the information up and see what is true? LC contends using his source, that there has been no real rise in violent crimes. I countered this by presenting local, loyal to the Democratic Party news sources. People across demographic lines are more and more worried about increasing crime rates. Well, everybody in the USA has to wait to see a doctor too, and many have to wait quite literally forever because they can not afford to see a doctor at all.

> Let us let them have the last word, unless you're afraid of hearing "whataboudism" which is a way of refusing to compare and contrast, and thus deliberately avoid facts that go against one's ideology.

OK let me give you some facts, that can cut through all the internal complications and just illustrates the inputs and the outputs:
The life expectancy of a person in the Netherlands in 2019 was 82.01 years.
The life expectancy of a person in the USA in 2019 was 78.79 years.
The per capita healthcare costs in the Netherlands in 2019 was $5,335.
The per capita healthcare costs in the USA in 2019 was $12,530.
Unless you deliberately avoid these facts because they go against your ideology only one conclusion is possible, the healthcare system in the USA is DRAMATICALLY more inefficient than the healthcare system in the Netherlands. For decades the Democrats have tried to improve the ridiculous healthcare system in the USA and
for decades the Antidemocrats have opposed all attempts to do so. And the Antidemocrats won.

I thought it was interesting because it was illuminating for me personally. I tend to, by experience, side with economist Nicholas Taleb Nassim (Black Swan guy) when he suggested attending social gatherings to gain useful societal information. It is the same reason I asked you about Sweden joining NATO (OTAN?) (ODIN?), because for your guys this is a new thing. Now, that I think of it, who do you trust on explaining the statistics? For example, when Covid first broke out, the experts informing the Swedish government told them, Don't Close Up, because the lives saved, if any, will be small in number, while the damage to the economy will be great. Belgium, which did close down, did worse on the death tolls then Sweden did, and Sweden did not close down.

As the German saying goes, "Too smart, too late." We don't get reliable statistics until (as we Ami's say) After, the shit hits the fan. I accept statistics but I want to hear from (again as Ami's say) those with boots on the ground,   This is why I would also wish to here from the people involved, the being affected by events, your eyes, and ears, your neurons.

What you state IS valid JC, however like all good Republicans I will throw a couple of curve balls to consider.
1. For whatever reason, the masses, the Narod, are not in the streets demanding what Canada has. Mass Ignorance?

2. Our crime rates and murders effect the statistics. The Black community, the mass intake of Chinese Fentanyl from across the border (deaths from overdoses), unhealthy lifestyles Unlike the Nordic Kabouters in Holland do not partake of.
But instead, they are riding bikes, walking, boating, etc. The couch potato is an American invention, not European.

3. Does illegal immigration skew the statistics? Maybe no, maybe yes. It then becomes who gets statistically sampled?

My question would be what would be the best way to pay for a national medical service? For this, I would seek out the estimates on the impact, from multiple economists. Maybe our national life average would climb, but what if it doesn't? Would we then disband a national medical service?

My question is what is the mission statement of a new national med service? The measurable goal is.....?

I have read the Black Swan and I do think that Nassim has some interesting things to say. I also believe in acquiring knowledge at the local/micro level, especially for personal purposes and private models or reality. In this case, however, as Brent pointed out, you have all the relevant inputs and outputs aggregated.

It is the same reason I asked you about Sweden joining NATO (OTAN?) (ODIN?), because for your guys this is a new thing.

???
Who are "my guys"?

Now, that I think of it, who do you trust on explaining the statistics?

I trust myself mostly. I refer to domain experts and what they write when I need to bridge my (frequent and enormous) knowledge gaps.

For example, when Covid first broke out, the experts informing the Swedish government told them, Don't Close Up, because the lives saved, if any, will be small in number, while the damage to the economy will be great. Belgium, which did close down, did worse on the death tolls then Sweden did, and Sweden did not close down.

Contagion dynamics happen with a complex system with several layers -- physical, biological and social. It is almost impossible to compare apples to apples between two countries or time periods.

I know that some models suggest that lockdowns only work if they are done "very early and very hard". This makes sense to me, considering exponential growth. I suspect that almost none of the implemented lockdowns qualified as "very early". When politicians finally felt enough pressure to enact lockdowns, it was probably already too late. The question is: did they still help? I don't know. Maybe they still added some resistance to the spread. It is also true that lockdowns increase non-COVID-related mortality, for example by delaying the detection of serious diseases, or by encouraging people to postpone urgent treatment. There appears to be some evidence that this is the case.

But I don't know. I am not an expert in that field, and I am sure there is a lot that I don't know. Would I be surprised if many of the decisions amounted to political theater and didn't really help? No. Am I happy that the enormous responsibility of dealing with such a serious situation does not rest on me? YES!

Also, for the entire 5,000 year period, a lot of carbon was trapped underground in fossil fuels.  When we started burning fossil fuels at the start of the industrial revolution the amount of additional CO2 overwhelmed the CO2 capture capabilities of the planet and CO2 levels started to rise.

As a comparison.  The total annual precipitation is 505,000 cubic meters or 39 inches.  In 5,000 years that means 195,000 inches (or 3 miles) of accumulated water.  That does not mean that the water level on Earth has risen by 3 miles, because it is the same water that circulates over and over again.  But some of that water is more or less permanently trapped as ice.  That ice is starting to melt now and the sea levels are starting to rise because of atmospheric warming.  If all ice caps and glaciers were to suddenly melt the water level will rise about 70 meters.

No it's not.  Are you too dense to understand that an input of 383/5000= 77Gt/yr was in equilibrium with the natural sequestration process?  Can you not grasp, that is why the CO2 level in the atmosphere was constant up until the 1890's.  Adding an additional 5.1/150=34Gt/yr is going to produce a big shift in the equilibrium CO2 concentration.

I would guess Telmo, Swedes, the Nords, the EU, as I visualize you. Sweden stayed neutral during the Hitler Stalin non-aggression pact, then War. (Molotov-Ribbentrop). Even our Swiss pals are still in uneasy consideration of throwing in with NATO. Feel free to tell how wrong I am factually, if this is worth your time?

This has always been my cross to bear.

I did stumble across this proposed fix this morning-

Yes, you are baffled by simple arithmetic.

Going all futurist on this, Dirk, it may be a smart move to adjust to any inundations by doing things like cities upon the sea (not so much under 3000 meter deep sea floor cities. Also build gravity flow water towers at sea to create a hydroelectric pumped storage electricity supply for those on land. We'd principally use wind turbines to do this, and why not combine sea cities and water towers??

The main issue is, AGW or not is simply that even though there is lots of fossil fuels remaining, and expanding economy round the world will blow past the fossil fuel supply in a few to several decades (Ignoring completely Climate threats). We still need to move beyond oil, gas, coal, shale.

So what is the fix??? Ideas?? Has to work well, reliably, low maintenance, and be able to provide tens to a few hundred trillion watts.

I'm Portuguese, living in Berlin, so I am more of the southern European variety (closer to Nassim Taleb). I appreciate the Nordics and see them as fellow Europeans, but overall I find their culture a bit alien. I am probably culturally closer to you than to the average Swede.

Sometimes I feel like there is a one-way glass in the middle of the Atlantic. We European are half-American (I will explain), but you Americans feel distant from us. Or maybe not?

I think that what many of you fail to appreciate is how influential you have been for us in the post-war period. This was still true in the 80s a and 90s. I grew up with your morning cartoons, tv shows, movies, etc. Most of us did.

I definitely grew up believing that Americans are the good guys and URSS/Russia are the bad guys. I greatly admired NASA and its accomplishments. So did my father, who stayed up like many people at the time to witness the moon landing.

My "national" identity feels layered. Perhaps Portuguese, then European, then something even wider, which includes the USA. This is not a conscious preference or a statement, it is just a product of the environment were I was brought up.

I had an American boss and I have worked for an American company. I almost moved there once, but decided against it just hours before signing a work contract and apartment lease. I visited a number of states throughout the years: California, New York, Massachusetts, Nevada, Minnesota, Florida, Louisiana and Hawaii. I always found it super easy to get along with Americans. You guys are open in a way that we Europeans are not.

Climatology is not only a pseudoscience (unlike meteorology), it is also part of the fanatic pagan religion of WAMP-the-Ingrate. I have written to some “authors” promoting this myth of CO2 as a global danger (completely ignoring the greater danger of oxygen depletion of (2 atoms of O-16  for each atom of C-12 introduced). Of course those “blasphemous” notes are never even acknowledged.

This whole notion of “fossil” fuel is unsettled, yet. How many dinosaurs and other species will be need to produce thes massive deposits of petroleum? An abiotic origin is mandatory. The earth has enough carbonaceous matter, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, fire. Steam, sulfur, phosphorus etc. plus enormous pressure and heat to keep on producing petroleum (without any bio mass).

If the earth survived at least 5000 years and 383 trillion tons of CO2, it will continue after the paltry ~ 5.1 trillion tons of CO2 for 50 past years and100 future years of petroleum burning, thanks primarily to Carbon Cycle, as I have always stated. Moreover, the glaciers in the water will noi raise the sea level after melting, it will only reduce the level !!  Furthermore, only about 30% of the earth surface is land mass.

https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/8349/cold-and-snow. The climatic snow line is about 15,000 ft above sea level at the equator. It is progressively lower as the latitude increases, to just below 9,800 ft in the Alps. The melting of mountain ice alone cannot dangerously raise the sea level; for that very powerful forces (not by CO2 !!) will be required to bring up the humongous subterranean water beds.

Destroy the petroleum industries, then even the battery industry will be destroyed because some of the 6000 byproducts of petroleum are entail for battery production also. This only infuriates WAMP-the-Ingrate. They have no sense of humor, logic or rationality, or fairness. A bundle of madness !

Ok Telmo thanks! You struck me as more like the Nords I have encountered in the past, or it may be simply how I mentally screen people. You may have like the coastal US states (Alaska, Hawaii not included), because they like Portugal are maritime places. On good and bad, I am guessing that there are only good and bad deeds, good and bad practices, etc. The reasons why somebody does something are always important. For instance, were we good or bad guys during the years of slavery? A mix actually. The slave states were gulags, as De Tocqueville noted, the free states, much better, even though most blacks couldn't vote. The could work and start businesses. As Lincoln wrote, the US War Between the States was an atonement in blood, for slavery.

The invisible glass is probably the American narcissism. You can see it in our politics whether its Joey or Orange Man? Narcissism is not horrible, but it does get in the way of problem solving. Problem solving is what our species needs now.

For Putin and the Russians, I fear them, and as you see the example of their attacks on Ukraine civilians as an example of what they will do to the world, if given a chance. It is like the old imperialism of Europe, Rome, China, the Aztecs, etc. Except with H-bombs. China, who has joined them, the same. I have heard from two 'experts' in the last few days that Putin and Xi had plans they are acting on  I will know if these guys are correct during the beginning of next month, I hope they are wrong!

For those in Berlin, Fraulein Dr. Merkle's gamble with Putin and trade in gas was and is an profound failure. We need better and better for the next 5-10 years in my opinion is yeah to the US drilling and selling our gas and oil to the EU or anyone else who is reliant on Russian fuel. For our climate this is technically known as tough shit. At the same time, we go massive, on solar, wind at sea, batteries galore, EV's, &  hybrid cars in every car showroom on the planet. We all  keep the nukes on as long as they are not causing radiation releases. I see this as the human species outside of Putin and Xi-land going into survival mode.

For your German friends this means that even though they may hate this, the EU/NATO has to 'soldier-up." This'd be to show Vlad that you have the might and political will to retaliate effectively. We don't need to blab out threats as they do, just show them, the missiles and the will to strike back...successfully.

American culture has become (in my opinion) hideous because of progressive ideology. This is true in the boardroom, the classroom, and at the movies. The big hit (without China!) has been Top Gun 2, and Marvel Multiverse & Minions Rise of Gru. If I remember, Pixar does the animation in France aka a French CGI technology? Euro trance contributes much more to music then US country, or hip-hop anymore. Rock is dead. Netflix blows, or what's a Downton Abbey for? Team Europe, does great with technology whether EU or not.

Thanks for your information Telmo, and keep on posting!

Any science he or others like him they disagree with is a pseudoscience.

I am not exactly sure why the term pagan comes up over and over. A pagan is really somebody from a nation that is not subject to monotheist religion. Below is a definition of pagan from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. The least anachronistic definition is #2 below. In the United States the number of people who believe in God is 80%, which is down from 90% just a decade ago. I do not see the world be overwhelmed by pagans.

I'm sure I would. I miss traveling to the US.

Yes I agree. What I meant to say is that I was raised under more or less the same biases and propaganda as you have.

The invisible glass is probably the American narcissism. You can see it in our politics whether its Joey or Orange Man? Narcissism is not horrible, but it does get in the way of problem solving. Problem solving is what our species needs now.

I agree that there is a certain amount of narcissism that is healthy, but I think that we have a surplus of it at the moment. I do have the impression that English-speaking cultures have become particularly narcissitic in the last decade, and I think there is also a strong element of that to Brexit. And I think that Putin is probably happy with such divisions in the west, and might even have played a role in them (although I would bet it was not decisive, just an extra push).

Like most people, I am disgusted by the unjustifiable aggression against Ukraine. What I fear the most from Putin is indeed is nuclear arsenal, combined with his apparent appetite for increasing the risk of nuclear conflict. I hope that the western leaders are wise enough to avert such a scenario. It is infuriating that nothing more can be done to defend the Ukraine because of this (and also explains why almost every rogue state wishes to have nuclear weapons, and why it is so important to prevent them from having them).

I would only make one remark: the USA also deserves to figure in the above list. American imperialism is more modern and sophisticated, but it is also very real. Would I rather live under the Chinese system? NO!

For those in Berlin, Fraulein Dr. Merkle's gamble with Putin and trade in gas was and is an profound failure.

Mutti Merkle was more or less caught in this situation. She was not in favor of phasing down nuclear power, but the people here really demanded it as a consequence of Fukushima. Environmentalism (the good kind and also the silly kind) are huge in Germany. I would more inclined to blame Gerhard Schröder, who became a lobbyist for Russian energy right after being chancellor. He used to have an office right down the street from where I am at the moment. Used to.

The USA dealings with Saudi Arabia are not so different, I would say.

Fun fact: I once almost run over Merkel with my bike. It was her fault, she jumped into the road from between two cars. Her security people where running after her. She waved apologetically.

We need better and better for the next 5-10 years in my opinion is yeah to the US drilling and selling our gas and oil to the EU or anyone else who is reliant on Russian fuel.

We can tell that the US is really eager to do this (and has been for awhile).

The big issue is the next winter. It isn't so much that Germany is energy-poor without Russian gas, more that gas is the only practical fuel for important things with the current infrastructure. Case in point: the heating at my house! Yes, I have been surviving German winters with Russian gas.

For the next 5-10 years, take a look at this chart:

It paints a slightly different picture than what is being repeated in anglo media.

For your German friends this means that even though they may hate this, the EU/NATO has to 'soldier-up."

They don't hate it. I think there is one fundamental misunderstanding about my German friends. Their (sometimes radical) environmentalism and their anti-militarism stems from their desire to make sure they are not nazis. One thing that Germans have going for them (and anglo cultures typically do not) is that they know as a fact that they can turn into monsters.

This'd be to show Vlad that you have the might and political will to retaliate effectively.

I have heard it claim that the decline of Hollywood is mostly related to the need to avoid any topic that could upset the CCP.

If I remember, Pixar does the animation in France aka a French CGI technology?

The French are very good with the math. I learned a thing or two from them.

Euro trance contributes much more to music then US country, or hip-hop anymore. Rock is dead. Netflix blows, or what's a Downton Abbey for? Team Europe, does great with technology whether EU or not.

I had no idea the European dance music was influential somehow outside of our borders. But hey, the influence goes both ways:

Oxygen is orders of magnitude more abundant than carbon and constitutes 21% of the gas in the atmosphere.  Even if we burned all the oil and gas and coal we would only reduce oxygen levels by 2 to 3%, not enough pose any risk.  The increase in CO2 is the problem.  Why do you call something that is based on sound theory and has made highly accurate predictions over at least 50 years "pseudoscience"?

Fossil fuels have zero dinosaurs, they formed about 300 million years ago and are constituted mainly of plants, bacteria and algae.  Abiogenesis is not a well supported theory.

If the earth survived at least 5000 years and 383 trillion tons of CO2, it will continue after the paltry ~ 5.1 trillion tons of CO2 for 50 past years and100 future years of petroleum burning, thanks primarily to Carbon Cycle, as I have always stated. Brent has previously answered the first part of your statement.  How do melting glaciers REDUCE the sea level???   What is the relevance of the fact that 30% of the Earth's surface is land mass?

Nobody says we should dump petroleum overnight.  We can gradually wean ourselves.  In theory all these chemicals can be manufactured from carbon and hydrogen, but we will obviously still need fossil fuels to extract more complex molecules.

Hi Telmo.

As a yank I suspect Brexit was mostly about which way the money flowed. Mostly, it appeared to flow out of the UK.

Siding with the House of Ibn Saud was except for the Trumpo years, mostly a backreaction (like with laser physics) from the Shia Ayatollahs who since their deposure of the Shah in 1979, has given them a chance to show who was best to lead the Umah (Islam), and hold the throne of the Prophet, and who needs to follow orders. The Shia love the idea of The Mahdi, in the same way that Christians follow Matthew 24.

I feel that what triggered Putin was seeing the opportunity to take Europe and the Ukraine in a matter of days.Putin watching the catastrophe and show of US weakness in Afghanistan. This was never my own point of view, but it's obvious that perceptions of weakness were the key.

US imperialism might seem more of a thing for the Progressive billionaires, rather than merely the money hungry old industries of oil, coal, and defense. manufacturing has been deliberately sent China hands and China is run by the CCP. So both George Soros and Klaus Schwab (The Blofeld Brothers) want a world run the UN. George did pipe up once about China, I suspect because they run by Maoist Nationalism funded by the companies they own. The economics are state capitalism, the system, The Party. How much better we are, is basically if one does a body count? We are middling good, but not glorious, on a day by day basis.

The main thing about the German Mistake was that, it didn't work.It didn't work when Krupp and Allianz tried to moderate the National Socialists 88 years ago and were told to keep quiet and fund Dur Boss. Thus, all take bribes, some simply want to kill anyway. We stand up to Vlad not because we want to, but because he will kill us if we don't, and the 2nd shoe hasn't dropped yet in the Pacific with Comrade Xi. This is my fear and or paranoia.

Your Fraulein Doctor Merkel  even could have changed today's headlines, but I suspect that Gulfstream Gas Pipe would have gone through anyway, no matter who was Chancellor.

The move to clean energy relies specifically on R&D and its implementation and yes, the price tag. But as we both know R&D makes it all possible. If the Germans can get by in the meantime with heat pumps and other tech, plus, maybe Joey and Canada substituting, they will get by nicely. To my way of thinking and feel free to call it "racist," the Europeans don't become anti-nazi by turning the other cheek, which, sorry Jesus, never worked properly, but by returning hit for hit upon all aggressors on your lands. These, be it communist, nazi, or yeah, jihadists. They attack? You punch back. No more beheaded school teachers in Paris anymore. That's how you become and anti-nazis ;-)

Hollywood are the progressives (billionaires funding communists in an exchange of cash for power) and Sony told the CCP sorry, the Taiwanese flag stays, and now they are the biggest cash cow in the movies in the world.Currently. China now looks to be far worse than anyone thought and the interesting news is that even Joey, who took bribe money from them (like everyone else in the world) toughened up the El Donaldo strengthening in the Pacific. For this Joey deserves credit. For everything else, his advisors are even worse than he is.

So now what? Now, as I peasant, I head back into work while I still have a job. We keep ours eyes as we are forced to on Putin and Xi. We keep, if we can, the monsters in their cages, till new leadership takes over in our lands and the theirs. The focus should be on technological remediation of troubles, one way or another. Longer term, we sweat about robots and algorithms replacing jobs, but for now, we go into survival mode as a species. No Climate Threat is no longer #1 anymore, it's Vlad & Xi.

Good luck in all things Telmo,
Spud the serf (Mr. Technofix)
