Dear Madam,

We refer to the recent escalation attributing the failure of the Final Tank Motor to the overflow incident at the Clarified Water Tank.

Upon review of the incident and site conditions, we would like to place the following facts on record:

  1. The overflow from the Clarified Water Tank occurred due to a delay in switching ON the Filter Feed Pump, resulting in temporary overflow of treated water from the tank.
  2. The overflow did not result in submergence or water ingress into any motors or electrical equipment in the STP (all are working fine). All motors, including the Final Tank Motor, are installed at the same elevation and continue to remain unaffected by the overflow event.
  3. The Final Tank Motor, which is outside the scope of Ecotech's maintenance contract, was inspected after failure. Physical inspection and photographic evidence confirm that the motor suffered internal burning and there was no evidence of water ingress or moisture-related damage (photos attached).
  4. The motor had been experiencing repeated tripping for approximately 15 days prior to failure. During this period, our operating team had regularly escalated the issue to the site electrician and Facility Manager for necessary intervention.

Based on the above observations and evidence, there is no technical basis to correlate the Clarified Water Tank overflow with the failure of the Final Tank Motor.

We would also like to note that this matter was escalated directly to senior management without following the agreed escalation matrix. The escalation matrix exists to ensure that technical issues are first reviewed and validated at the appropriate levels before further escalation, enabling decisions to be made based on facts and technical evidence. We request that the agreed process be followed for future operational matters.

Ecotech remains committed to supporting the smooth operation of the STP and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. Since the Final Tank Motor has now burnt out and does not have a standby, we recommend that repair or replacement be taken up on priority to avoid any operational disruptions. If required, Ecotech can support this activity and provide a quotation for repair of the motor.

Regards,

GS
