create an event storming from already existing material?

I found myself in a weird situation.
As a new hire, I've been asked to understand a complex system for creating an integration platform based on existing tools and applications.

It seems that the extended teams already had several brainstorming sessions and what I have is a bunch of materials: user journeys, sequence diagrams, high level architectural schemes, business capabilities mappings, business process diagrams and so on.

It look to me like a perfect case for an event storming, only that probably I cannot propose other meetings to all people, due to several constraints (not easy to bring people together in a big organization).

So, I started to do an "event storming" myself with the idea of organizing the material, understanding the language and the processes.
I will use it as a basis for asking questions to person individually...

Does this make sense? Anybody else found a similar situation?

Hi,

well, it does make sense. Your political leverage is a key constraint for calling or not calling a meeting. But the exercise of putting the pieces together, maybe finding inconsistencies between the different artifacts is still valuable.

However, your solo modeling exercise is not a *Storming.
- It can help you to better understand a complex domain. :-)
- It can definitely help to ask the right questions.
- ...But it is not "validated learning". The validation only happens when the experts are engaged in the conversation.

So ...nothing wrong unless you sell it for something bigger, which doesn't seem to be the case.
