Origami Workshop

Duration: 90 minutes
Date:  Saturday 28th 6:30pm, Monday 30th 6:30pm
You must bring: Your hands! We provide the paper.

Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding (ori means
folding, kami means paper). The goal of Origami to transform a simple
flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture using folding
techniques. Cutting the paper, using glue, etc are not considered part
of Origami.

There is no limit to what can be folded. Here are some examples:

Utility objects (boxes, vases, hats)
Action Toys (airplanes. spinners, bangers)
Geometric patterns (orbs, spirals, pyramids)
Flowers
Animals and human figures


Origami Paper

The neat thing about Origami is that all it requires is paper, and
there is a lot of it around. Many traditional Origami models require
duo-coloured paper, but there are also a lot of models which don't. In
the workshop, we will learn to fold models using materials as varied
as copier paper, business cards, newspaper, invitation cards, etc.

During the workshop, you will get introduced to some common Origami
terminology, such as the classic bases (such as waterbomb base),
modular origami, kusudama, tessellations, curved folds, wet folding,
crease patterns, and so on.
