Installation – WP 3.3 – Multisite Network, Subdirectory install, BP
1.5.2 – all fresh installs

With WP 3.3 and BP 1.5.2 the latest stable EP

- is not saving or showing Events
- things are not getting posted to the bp activity stream
- the sidebar Event widget is looking broken with default WP theme

Plus, how is it possible to show on an Event Page
the persons/avatars of persons who will attend/who may attend

Thanks.

For me, this plugin hasnt worked right in almost a year.  If you look at the threads in this group you'll see the same for many others.  I realize Kunal that you are doing this completely for free (which is great), but if you are going to do something it should be done right.  Just my two cents.

It's not about doing it right once, though: there's a reason the
plugin has a compatible up to WP3.1 added in the readme, and shown on
the plugin download page.

Hi Kunal

Thanks for being here.
I will be eager to contribute something via Amazon wish list or
similar if this hastens up the process for a release for WP 3.3
Network Multisite + BP 1.5.2 compatibility.
"Like" and "Events" are 2 essential features of any social net now,
and sadly BP has none. The "Like" plugin is an incomplete and non-
synced, and broken too.
"Events" is not working, and those who have waited for BP to mature
into a stabler and fuller release are finding nothing to depend on.
( Ideally these tw features should have been in core by now)

If you plan a new release can you look at FB - how much simplicity and
logicalness they have : Just let any member/blog-author add an event
(with or without location map) and other users can just say "yes"
"may" or "no"
The Event page shows the avtaars+/- names of tjose who have said "yes"
and "may" to events.
Events added show up in site and user activity stream (if not private)
- thats all most users want.

Thanks again for being here. A merry Christmas to you and family.

Hi

Yeah -- there have been pretty drastic changes in BP (for the better)
which have unfortunately also broken EP -- and thus I too started a
full rewrite (I was sick of the many hacks I had been using).

It's funny you should mention FB's event handling as FB happens to be
the main cause behind the lack of updates to EventPress: I just
relocated from India to the US to start work at Facebook. Just started
settling in here -- finally got a net connection just this sunday;
still have to get furniture, etc so I won't be able to accelerate EP
dev at the moment. I do have a few days of vacation coming up so I'll
see if I can make any headway in that time -- no promises though.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too!

Regards,

Kunal

OMG ! You work at FB!
Okay, not particularly fond of FB :) and wish there was more networks
like G+ and Myspace did not die.
One answer could have been opensource stuffs like WP ( and phpbb etc)
who were the leaders once.
Suppose what if your own company from India made a FB killer based on
BP! Most Indians just do not make it big in India.
And sadly internet as a network of sites is losing purposes as FB
heavily monopolizes the scene with so much data-mining-
commercialization.
But then ....

I understand the ground reality though and wish you all the best.
