Has anyone else heard that Eventbrite is discontinuing use of Eventbrite Sync with Salesforce? Any comments are appreciated.

This is accurate. Eventbrite Sync is no longer available. We are however allowing legacy users already using Eventbrite Sync to continue utilizing this integration.
