timer in etm1

Hi Dan,
I have been quietly working with and appreciating ETM for quite some time now, without any problems. I got on the group today, for the first time in weeks, and noticed that progress is being made on ETM-2. I will review the ETM-2 stuff as soon as time permits.
Meanwhile, and ETM-1 question (or perhaps just a comment).
when starting an action intending to be timed, if I start it with "a" , then insert the item, then press Shift-Return, it often seems to permanently write it without keeping the timer going. However, if I start it with "~" the timer works perfectly every time and I don't seem to have that problem.
I have been meaning to write this for some time now but keep forgetting.
