Hi there. Just started using flairs so far so good. Adding a icon is simple but have to manually assign an icon to each individual event (unless linked event). I am using calendars in conjunction with forms and the data director ad-on for forms. When a form is complete an event is created corresponding to particular questions answered in the form. Is there a way to automatically generate the flair icon based on keywords in the event tittle? The one way I can think of is inserting the text code in the Data Director event settings but if ":' is used things get messed up with data director. Any suggestions thoughts, or ideas?
Thank you,
Stephen

Hi
I'm not to understand the whole process, but usually setting an icon to an event requires using google API (what the gadget actually does). If you explain more maybe I'll have an idea, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to using the API (or maybe use some of the gadget's functions, I don't know)

Cheers
Sebastien

When a form is complete a calendar event is created by the Data Director ad-on. I would like the event flair to display a specific icon for a specific event automatically without manually entering it after each event has happened. The simplest example is when I complete the spray form currently the calendar event will get created and display " [KLR] Spray <location ID> ". I would like it to display " (event flair happy face) [KLR] Spray <location ID>
A more complex example would be the Clean or Dirty form. Currently the event will read [KLR] Dirty <location ID> or [KLR] Clean <location ID> based on the answer to a specific question in the form. I would like it to display a specific event flair for the specific answer to the question so that the event would read (solid star) [KLR] Dirty <location ID> or (hollow star) [KLR] Water <location ID>.
Thank you,
Stephen

Color me puzzled. You are looking for enhancements etc., while someone else recently shared that Google intends to stop support for gadgets, which as I understand it, will render flairs a memory. If I misinterpreted the post, clarification would be welcome...

I did read that the addons will not be supported but unsure if they will be removed entirely. Having icons in calendars should be a standard feature anyway if they have icons for weather it shouldn't be that hard to include icons or at least basic shapes. I use symbols and short hand in my printed calendar which helps reduce clutter and makes events and tasks easy to read ata glance. I'm not one of those people that calendars everything down to brushing their teeth I would hate to see how cluttered their google calendar is with all that text. Some of the simplest of things seems to be a ginormous inconvenience for google. oh well just my two pence.
Thanks,
Stephen
p.s. i miss your announcing of the Kings games

Alright, so, I'm not familiar with data form (at all). The question is: is it even possible to add a icon to an event from anything other than 1) the event-flairs gadget I wrote or 2) using google API ? Have you been able to do it from data form using a very simple, even close to a manual way? Not sure I can help there...

Cheers

PS: which announcement of Kings games ?? I'm lost :)

If i knew the corresponding code for the icon I could put it in the data director settings event calendar title. It would look something like this:  <code for event flair happy face> [KLR] Spray <location ID> . Where would I get the list of codes for the icons?
"The question is: is it even possible to add a icon to an event from anything other than 1) the event-flairs gadget I wrote." That's basic question I have been asking. You are the developer, shouldn't you know?

I got confused with "if ":' is used things get messed up with data director" on the first email, I thought you found a way to put those icon from data director but needed help with the syntax or something like that... So, as far as I know, you can't create an event with a special code that would add an icon.
