Hello, I followed the directions to install: I deactivated the old one in labs, installed the new one, but it doesn't work. Nothing popped up asking me to 'authorize'.  Any suggestions? I tried re-installing it several times. It's v2.21.

Works great, but after making some changes to my calendar I closed the gadget with the "X".  Now can I get it back without re-installing?

It would be great if there was a button to minimize it temporarily.  I prefer the monthly layout and I could use more width for the calendar.

There is a small right arrow in the middle of the divider between the calendar and the gadget panel. If you click it, the right panel will collapse and you will have more room. Click the left arrow to restore the panel. This way, you won't need to reinstall any gadgets.

That small right arrow seems to have disappeared in both chrome and firefox, so no way now it would appear to collapse the right panel :(  Am I missing something?  It always use to be there...

I can't speak for your setup, but it's still there in Chrome for me. (I have the latest stable version.) Here's a screenshot:

Yes, I see it on yours, but it has disappeared from mine.  Have tried restarting numerous times, haven't made any changes recently.  I'm using Chrome Version 43.0.2357.81 m (64-bit)

As I had indicated, that right arrow that made the right side panel open up or collapse, disappeared from my calendar screen.  Which effectively "removed" your flair addon.  I finally was able to expand the panel by forcing the task calendar to appear, then I ran the flair install again, and all is good.  fyi and fwiw.

"Some Labs features are gadgets that display in a panel on the right side of the calendar grid. To hide or display the gadget panel, simply use the arrow located to the right side of the calendar grid. You can also click the Tasks calendar under My calendars to expand the panel."

Just go to https://eventflairs.appspot.com and click on "Quick Install"
It will reset everything and all will be A-OK! I think :-)

Now, Seb: The arrow that hides the Event Flair panel to the right of the screen: MOST of the times does not "engage". I have to close my "Calendar", reopen it and then all's well!
Until the next time...any ideas?
Using Windows 10,on a Lenovo AMD A10 (cheap :-)

Not sure to understand "the arrow that hides the panel". This arrow on the bottom left on this pix ? That I cannot act on it... It's part of Google Calendar.

Yep, that's the one!
I did not if that was a Google problem or a Event Flairs issue...
Now I know! At least I know of an easy solution: Close the Calendar and then re-open it :-)

Thank you for your response, Seb!!!

Suddenly half my event flairs are blanks.  There's an icon showing somthing should be there, but not flair graphic.  I tried reinstalling and get the same thing.

I had the same thing ...  It may have been part of the Samatha set which has since been replaced.  There are two new sets on the EventFlairs page.

Hi Shawn.  Sorry, not following your reply.  (Just to be clear, The original flair set has not been in my labs for a long time. ) Now trying to install a good set.  I removed the current bad flairs (x'd above/right of the bad flair set that shows on my calendar), closed the calendar, -- in fact closed the Chrome browswer and reopened it,  I went to the flair gadget page (https://eventflairs.appspot.com) and selected the Shawn set.  It pops up a blue box with instructions to "go back to gadget, click 'import', and paste."  I don't know what it means to "go back to gadget", and so I don't see anything using the term Import.  thanks.

Hi, Shawn, Okay, I think I've got it.  I kept trying different things and there is an earlier comment in this forum about removing all old flairs, so that's what I was doing first.  But the only way I see to have a "gadget" to return to is to have some flairs already installed, even if it's a bad set.

So I reinstalled the bad set by clicking the Quick Install button on the https://eventflairs.appspot.com page.  Now I have the messed up flair set back on my calendar.  Then to be safe, I closed and reopened Calendar.  Now back to the https://eventflairs.appspot.com page, this time selecting one of the custom sets, (Shawn in my case). With this copied to my clipboard, I returned to the tab with my calendar and clicked the green download button at the bottom of that flair set.  This asked me to paste the flair set description, so I pasted what was in my clipboard, and it asks if I'm sure; doing so will remove all my existing icons.  I said yes, and the new set was installed.  And it all looks good now.

So I guess since installing one set replaces whatever set was there, you can only have one set of flairs on your calendar. Yes?

But I'm happy to have my flairs back.  Thanks!

Well, l found out how to have more than one set of flairs (per https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/event-flairs/U-_duuRf51U) by selecting CANCEL when it says it'll replace existing flairs.  It still installs and appends the new set, however, the size of the box they're in doesn't change, so depending on how many flairs you now have, you may be unable to get at the Add, Remove, Import, ... buttons.  :p

Best I can do for now.

Seb,
Is there a way to increase the length of the box/window so that you can see the Add Remove Import buttons if you happen to add more than one set of flairs?
Is there a limit to the size of that box that is changeable?

On the same wavelength, Seb: Since I have added some of my own icons, is there a limit to the number of icons shown /can be used?
Thank you!

There is a limit to the number of icons that can be put into a set.
I believe the limit has been reached with the set that is on the Event Flairs website (Suzanne Flairs).
I tried adding the most I could to my set and that is where it cut me off.. if you have all the icons formatted with short Google URL's then that is what you can have as a limit (110 Icons)

Thank you Suzanne...
I noticed that when some of my icons started disappearing...
But after I used the short URL for all of them, they all came back.
I never had more than 32 icons (in a 4x8 matrix)
I hope that Seb can give us a definite answer!

Seb,
Thank you for stepping in :-)
Here is an example:

The main question is: Is there a limit (number) of how many icons we can have in our individual Event Flairs?

Or can the matrix 4x8 (shown above) be increased? We show 29 icons in the example above.

Increased, without losing the BOTTOM 4 lines - shown below:

Thank you for your response!

suzanne is right, it's 110 icons if using short url option. if you go to event-flairs.appspot.com you'll see examples. you can build your own set from there, it'll use short url so you can have plenty of icons.

Maybe Seb is still monitoring this site :-)
(I left in 2013 or 4 yrs ago - but the 'memory' is endless!!!)
At the bottom it says: (all places changed by now - no 'Security' any more :-)

Uninstalling gadget
  • Go the your account settings
  • Select "Security" on the left, then "Connected applications and sites", click on "Review permissions"
  • Find "Event Flairs" and click on "Revoke Access".

  • Close the gadget with the "cross" on the top right

I imagine what you are trying to say is:

There is no "Security" on the left.
Start at your Calendar page and go to Settings>General or Settings...no "Security" under any of the two!

Maybe Seb can help...

BTW, the way I understand it, Google has not agreed to anything with "Event Flairs"...or with Seb :-)
It is letting the "gadget" just die on the vine...
