Event Flairs 2.3 "beta" ! Give a try ?

Hi flairs fans,

I've been working on a new version these days. I'm not so happy with UI but main functionalities I wanted to implement are here:

 - check max number of icons allowed in a set

 - check image addresses use "https"

 - and most importantly use short URL by default

If some of you want to give a try, that would be great:

 - remove/close your current gadget

 - click on this link: https://www.google.com/calendar/render?gadgeturl=https://eventflairs.appspot.com/static/beta.xml

You know you're using beta if you see "2.3f" (or 2.3 with a letter)

By default, all images will be converted to short URL. If you don't want to, unckeck "Use short URL". About this, UI is becoming a mess, I need to work on this... 

Hopefully this will help in the end using custom flairs :)

I installed the Beta version 2.3F and see that the Event Flairs menu now includes USE SHORT URL, but when I go to Export the Custom Flairs set I do not see that the Google URL Shortener was used.. I see that Https:// is there.. but the rest looks as it did before.

For now this is only for new added icons, it won't convert your set with short url. (that's expected soon)

Since goo.gl urls are formatted the same we can now know the max number of icons if only using short urls:

root url: "https://goo.gl/" = 17 chars
begin/end {[ ]} and : = 5
=> 1024 - 22 = 1002 chars for icons
one icon: " + 5 letters + ", = 8
so 1002 / 8 = 125 icons

You'll let me know ;)

I have been testing with using Amanda's Icon set and the short URLs, seems to work fine.. I discovered something very curious.. I have Amanda's icon set installed AND I also have the Event Flairs v2.21 for some reason on my Google Calendar using  Firefox..   it seems I can use BOTH of these sets and the icons get added no problem to my calendar.. weird.. but it allows me to have a BUNCH mode icons LOL .. I'm not complaining....  Not sure how I ended up with two sets of Event Flair icons but I did.. and it seems to be working.

afaik it's not possible without a browser extension. I already did that with Chrome but then it's tied to browser and the PC you've installed it. And this is somewhat a hack and would require to regurlarly update it when google updates its calendar...

This is a limitation of google's events, only one image ca be added. The workaround is to build an image "on the fly" and adjust its size on the event with the extension.

For a few weeks now since the beta 2.3 version (using 2.3g now) I have been using a custom set of icons that started out to be Amanda's and I have added some icons of my own to that set.  Funny thing is..I ALSO have the old Event Flairs v2.21 installed using Firefox and IT'S working as well.. so I have 111 icons with my Amanda/Suzanne icon set in v2.3 and I have the whole set for v2.21.
I can add and use the icons to my events from BOTH Event Flairs sets and save the events..everything works. 
I converted the icons I added to Amanda's set to use short URL from Google URL Shortener so they follow the same format with the "+ 5 letters +",  
I have, as I said, gotten it to add 111 total icons to my set before it gives me an error that I have reached the max.  I originally had 112 icons but it dropped off that last one when it reached the limit.
Still not sure why I have the ability to have both Event Flairs versions 2.3 and 2.21 installed but I'm not complaining.. gives me more icons to use.

My seb flairs quit working.  I reinstalled, but now just have the top line and NO FLAIRS... I've tried to download the original and other flairs, but they do not show up.  AGH.

Thomas - did  you ever solve this issue?  Seems just like mine posted in the main forum on 1 April 2015.   I am stumped given that the flairs don't work on a fresh/clean install and they have been working for many months.  If you managed to get them working, please post a reply here or (better) to my post in the top level of this forum.

Suddenly, today, the tab that you click on the right side of the calendar to create a space for the flairs, etc., has disappeared.  Now the calendar takes up the entire screen real estate, no room for the flairs.  Anyone else notice that?  Doing it in both chrome and firefox.
