Hi, habe folgendes Problem:

I have the same problem, for a few months now.
When I open my calendar tab in Chrome, I can add a flair to some calendar event.
After some time (but is it a matter of time only, not sure...) with Chrome running and the tab staying opened, I can't add flairs anymore. I still see the small "loading" red banner flashing (but maybe one time instead of two usually), but the event stays without any flair.
Then, if I press the "reload" button to refresh the calendar in the same tab, I can add flairs again.
This happens for Google flairs set as well as personal flairs set.

Do you use any chrome extension ? can you try in "incognito mode", without any extension loaded ?

I was able to reproduce the problem in "incognito mode", after something like 3 hours with the window left opened.

ok, thanks for reporting it. It's hard for me to help, I need more information, can you try to open the "javascript console" (in Chrome, menu "View/Developper/Javascript Console") and see whether there are any error messages. If so, can you send them to me (direct email) ? Incognito mode would still be better for this.
thanks

Hi there, thanks for the logs. So it looks like after a while credentials aren't valid anymore, and don't get refreshed (they should and used to be). I'll try to have a look (I'd need to actually use the event flairs gadget, which I rarely do :))

Hi again Frederic,

I might have found the root cause. I've deployed a new version (beta) hopefully fixing the issue. I'd need you to test this beta version, installing the gadget with this link: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/render?gadgeturl=https://eventflairs.appspot.com/static/beta.xml

You should see a new gadget (you'll probably need to remove the previous one), with "2.4b" version (instead of 2.4a) at the bottom:

Can you tell me, using the same conditions you previously mentioned, if this version works fine ?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

I'm checking for the credential problem (have to wait some time), but 2.4b brought another problem: I can add Google flairs, but not personal flair.

Message in console is:
  1. {code400dataArray(1)message"Invalid gadget icon_link: http://xxxxxxxxxx.net/private/icons/zodiac.png."error{…}}
    1. code:400
    2. message:"Invalid gadget icon_link: http://xxxxxxxxxx.net/private/icons/zodiac.png."
icon appears correctly in the icons list, and is accessible when using URL in the browser.

Thanks for your dedication... :)

Not sure it's related. Icon addresses should start with https://..., not the case here, can you try with another one (personal/custom flair) where adresses start with https:// ? (hope it makes sense) I used a custom one on my test, was working fine.

With 2.4a I was able to use http:// urls for my customs flairs and I was happy with it. I will try to switch to https:// but right now I don't have a certificate for this server and I'm not sure I can get one easily.

But the good news is that the credentials problem looks solved; after 2 hours I was able to add a flair to an event without refreshing.

Thanks a lot!
Cheers

Great, thanks for reporting.

As for https vs. http, 2.4a was already ensuring https for icons URLs. It's actually ensured by the browser itself IIRC, for security reason so you don't load any "unknown" external content. Maybe you were using a version older than 2.4a and for some reason your browser allowed it ? Weird. You can get a SSL certificate for free now, usually very basic, but should be enough.

Anyway, I'll wait few more days before moving 2.4b beta to final release.

Cheers
