How can I pass parameter to the event calendar helper?

I want to color events based on different types. As an example
sometimes we want to color event based on event's name and event's
start time.. how should I pass parameter to helper mentioning that it
want to color it based on start time. Or any other way to change the
color of event in event calendar ? plz help me...
