The CSS doesn't show on event calendar view

Not sure how to get the CSS to show in localhost:3000/calendar...only the html and javascript is running after installing the gem and generating event-calendar as per instructions.  Do I need to change the view layout and add a link:external stylesheets in the html portion of layout view?  I thought the link_stylesheets-tag would be fine.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
