Not sure if this is just training, but then it sounds like an actual job, as well?

It does sound like a job. I found a conversation about it on MT Stars… http://www.mtstars.com/c-Scoping-Careers-International-1661.html. This indicates it’s an (expensive) training program. Scoping does sound interesting though. It’s basically transcribing the notes of court stenographers.

Was there any mention of how much it cost?  I "joined" the website, and it's not posted under "pricing" either (website under construction.)

Okay, I found it...$1250-$2000, depending on your background, etc.

This is interesting, as well:

In reading the blog from the first posting, she says scopists with specialized skills, such as medical terminology, earn a higher rate of pay.

It’s actually not as expensive as I expected it to be.  Sounds like an interesting job.

Yeah.  Interestingly, I almost went to law school - got as far as taking the LSAT and applying to a few schools.  I'm also right now up to my eyeballs in a lawsuit against our church - I am the liaison between our church Board of Stewards and the legal team - am actually writing much of the legal response (the attorneys then "legalize.")

No wonder you said you’re not ready to start work just yet! Suing a church.. I can’t even imagine doing that. Sounds like scoping might be an interesting field for you though. It’s interesting the many ways in which the MT education can be beneficial.
