Principal job duties and responsibilities
. Mentoring new transcriptionists on a one-on-one basis 50-60% of the workday.
. Needs excellent communication skills to work with new transcriptionists.
. Needs to be detail oriented, have good organizational skills and the ability to provide positive feedback to new MTs.
. Edit documents consistently according to transcription guidelines, standards of style, and formats per client.
. Utilize all available reference tools to ensure the accuracy of the transcribed document.
. Provide timely and consistent quality feedback to inform and update the transcriptionists regarding quality issues and areas of concern to help eliminate repetition of errors.
. Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in patient charts.
. Adhere to policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of client requests.
. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, acute care and clinical medicine, surgery, radiology, and various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style as outlined in the Book of Style, 2nd Edition.
. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles.
. Ability to operate word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified.
. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.

Hi Lisa,

Nuance also has a new hire program.  They will only hire new graduates who have a very high GPA (I applied but did not get it.  My GPA is just under 3.5), but it sounds like a great place to work and they have recently expanded.  I will try to find the posting.
