Hey all,

Been quite some time since I've posted but I still watch the group quite a bit...
So I was rushing out the door on Friday evening to get somewhere and remembered my car needed Power Steering fluid because the pump was making noise last time I drove it.

Took the cap off and laid it on the A/C compressor, added fluid, put the bottle back on the shelf, closed hood and off I went... Anyone catch what step I missed there??!?!  PUTTING THE DARN CAP BACK ON!!

Well I realized it very fast when I got to the end of my street and turned off (it's a very very short distance). When I started to accelerate down the street I heard something fall. Looked in my mirror, didn't see anything, but it hit me!!! THE CAP!!! I stopped turned around didn't see it, pulled over walked around, couldn't find it. Some neighbors came by and helped look with me for 20 minutes still couldn't find it...

Needless to say I'm at the point of nearly calling it quits...

Anyone here know where I can find myself a Federal Steering pump cap??

Annoyingly this is the 2nd time I've done this... If I get my hands on another one I'm painting it bright yellow!

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Ben

Seems like it would have been easy to find on the road...any chance it's stuck in some crevice in the engine compartment? Lots of places for it to hide there!

For those too young to know, when gas stations transitioned from "The Guy Who Wears The Star" putting gas into the tank to the car driver doing it, a bazillion gas caps were left on pumps around the world. Gas stations would keep them in a box for absent-minded people to retrieve later. That's why losing our (painted) gas caps was a bigger PITA. Most people just got a chrome replacement - and they were shiny, too!

I looked through there a lot the night it happened, and I jacked the car up last night to look over it with work lights and flashlights above and below and found nothing... I'm so confused right now, but I figured I should just look for a replacement and if I find it in the meantime awesome.
