I realize this is off topic, but this stuff rarely shows up so I thought
someone may be interested.

This guy is always hocking Aussi 6 parts. I think he has an "in" to import pallets of motors. He is in the next city over from me.

He is a good guy to deal with. He goes to OZ a couple of times a year and buys up parts, fills a container and then imports them to the US, Buys US parts and fills a container then exports to OZ.

Ditto on that, I got a 66 factory service manual if the Chiltons leaves you a little short, especially on units that can be further repaired like brake boosters and carbs.

Scott if your tanks are good why you can take them to a radiator shop and they can build a core for you. This maybe cheaper than and easier than locating a completely new one. Good luck and have a Good and Safe New Year. barracudabad64

Thanks, its questionable, will have a pro look at it tomorrow.. Another question. Both my P/B shift and parking cables are bad and leaking. Anyone have either for sale ? Or any other place to find them...I hate to pay Imperial 400 bucks for them...I lost an auction on Ebay before I discovered how rare and expensive they are   Thanks again

Those cables have a small O-ring at the end where they mount to the trans. Even the speedo cable has one. If they are leaking, its not the cables its the O rings. check before you buy.

thanks all. Do the cables themselves get/ have fluid in them? I'm guessing they do, maybe no pressure, just gravity.. If so, they are shot cause some places only have the bare metal sheathing strands showing

According to atlas obsolete parts (at ebay motors); the sheathes are what go bad - not the cables. They sell them as a set but expensive...

Sheesh, they want even more than Imperial. I think before I spend  400 to 500 bucks on those (a lot of my budget ), I may try a little backyard garage under car ingenuity. Doesn't have to be pretty..lol.. I'm sure others are in my predicament, if successful will post what I did.

Another vehicle I'm working on has some VERY long shift cables. I'm told
the best way to lube them is with Marvel Mystery Oil.

Get a foot-long piece of clear plastic tubing that fits over the cable
housing, a schrader (bicycle valve) stem, whatever adapter you need to
clamp the Schrader valve tightly inside the plastic tubing and a couple
of hose clamps.

Pull both ends of the cable loose, clamp the tubing to the cable housing
and fill the tubing with Marvel Mystery Oil or some other good
cleaner/lubricant. Clamp the Schrader valve into the plastic tubing and
apply a little air pressure - maybe 5-10 psi. This should force the oil
through the housing and, hopefully, flush the dirt and crud out.

Do this a couple of times and you should have a clean cable with a good
light lubricant inside.

Next thing I'd like to do is to apply a rupper layer to the outside to
weatherproof it, but it might be hard to get it to stick to the oily
cable housing. Maybe the stuff you dip pliers into to coat the handles
would work for this. Depending on the cable, you may be able to slide
some rubber or plastic tubing over it.

I don't think I'd try this with a speedometer or tach cable (they
supposedly need graphite lube), but it should work great with shift and
brake cables.

In spite of that, you might want to force the oil through first and try
to get all the dirt out. I'm not sure you can really put a new rubber
jacket on the cables, but they'll probably work real well (and be
reasonably waterproof) if you just force oil through them every year or
two.

Hi,
I have used adhesive lined heat shrink sleeving to repair damaged cable outers and it works really well, definately worth a try for a £ or two.
Best or luck,
Steve.
