Hey All,

So, we finally have found most of the parts needed to reassemble Robin's tailgate.

Looking at the repair/parts manuals is a little frustrating as they are not as detailed as we would like.

Is there anyone in the EVBC group with a '64-'65 Valiant wagon, in Southern California or near to, who we can meet up with to take a look at how your tailgate is put together?

v/r,
Matt Matthews

Hello. I live in Chicago so I can't help you there. I do have a 1965 Plymouth Service Technical Manual from Mopar that has 5 to 7 pages of detailed assembly instructions if that would help. I'm not sure what manuals you have or exact information you are looking for but would be happy to scan them and send them to you if you'd like. Or if you can post some pictures and reference what you are looking for. Best of luck either way. Barry Humo

Hey Matt,

I’m curious what manual/literature you already have access to. No use showing you something you’ve already seen.

Also, do you think a different model would be similar enough to get past what you’re stuck on? Not that I have one to offer, but maybe open up the pool of possibilities.

What are you stuck on anyway?

Daryl

To Dave

Thank you for sending this information to link to the various manuals and information.  It is a treasure trove, at least for me.

Many thanks.

I have the manual that Dave posted.  Thanks again Dave!

I also have a Chilton Service Manual and a parts manual.  The manual that Dave posted has one or two vague pictures of the AV model tailgate.  The more detailed pictures in the manual are for the AP model.

The picture in the parts manual is also difficult to read, and the Chiton has no info at all on the tailgate.

The tailgate we are reassembling was disassembled over three years ago by a different group of people.  And over the years some of the parts have disappeared.

So we are looking for either an actual example to photograph, or some literature with really good pictures.

Hello. Sorry I have bad news. The manual that I have is a physical copy of the same one that was shared digitally. Just about every restoration that has been brought to my shop has been some one else's project car before it made it to us. Always a puzzle. I did find a place called Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts. The website  https://vtauto.org/1963-plymouth-valiant-wagon/   has a photo of the tailgate open and says they own the car. I wouldn't be surprised if they belonged to this group. Hope that helps.

I have on but I’m in North Carolina. I can take pictures for you

I’ve had mine apart a couple of times. Currently, I can’t seem to find the tailgate key. I never locked it anyway
