The 7.25 sure grip rear end in my Valiant is beginning to show its age. I was wondering if anyone had a good source for the clutch pack used in this car. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never used the place but West Coast Differentials does list them in there install kits. Worth a try. Good luck.

Sorry, but they don't have the clutches. I think you are looking at the shims not the clutches. I don't know of any source, except for a hobyest, like myself, but I just used the last set of clutches I had.

Have you tried to contact them? Places like that will sometimes be able to direct you to what you are looking for. Did the clutches you used have a part number? I know that is obvious but you never know without asking.

I contacted them, right after reading this message. They have no idea where to get the clutches. I am always on the lookout as I have a few 7 1/4 SG rears.

Thank you all for your advice and information. Since rebuilding my 7.25 looks to be not doable, I guess I’ll start scrounging parts for a 8.75 replacement. Again thanks for the help.

Being as 8 3/4 "A" body rears are fairly expensive, there is another option. There are several Ford 8 inch rears that are almost a bolt into a "A" body. Ford guys take them out to install 9 inch units, so they are affordable.

There is alot of information  on that Ford rear swap on For A bodies only. Alot if gear choices with posi and rear  Disks. The  one side tube needs to be shortened and axle too. Still much cheaper in the long run.

Not on the 8 inch Ford. You need the rear from a V-8 which has the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern (6 cyl cars had 4 bolt rears), and 10 in drum brakes. One of the Ford rears I have is from a 1976 Comet V-8. There are several different years and models that can be used. The spring perches are the same as the "A" body Mopar. The overall width is less then an inch difference. The main thing to modify is adapting the driveshaft. This can be done using two different U-joints, but I prefer haveing a shop put the Ford rear yoke on the Mopar drive shaft. Even the Mopar e-brake cable will work.

That is for the Ford 8.8 rear not the 8 inch. That is another option.

I have a unrelated question for the group. I have a 65 valiant signet conv with a 273 2 barrel.does anyone know what the cam of that stock carb is. I’m wanting to get more power out of the engine by putting a larger 2 barrel on it.

This site has good basic information about these engines...

  https://www.valiant.org/valiant/V8.html

This is probably what you need:

Engine Setup and cam Lifters Lift Duration
273 2 barrel through 67 Mechanical 395/405 240/240
