It’s time for our first monthly meeting of the year….
When – January 20th, start gathering at 6:30 to mingle, socialize, and have a bite to eat. Then at 7:00 we will hold the meeting.
Where – Spencer Makenzie’s, http://spencermakenzies.com/index.html
311 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, CA 93010
Spencer Makenzie’s is famous for their fish tacos and the “Taco Tuesday” offerings. However, the other menu items are also delicious. There are even special prices for select on-tap beverages. 🍺 🌮🌮 🍺
We have reservations at 6:30 for 25+ outside on the patio.
The weather forecast for Tuesday is for a great sunny day with temperatures in the low-60s during our meeting time, so you may want to bring a jacket.
It is important to RSVP to me at kentb...@gmail.com if you are going to attend, so we can make sure to have table space for you.
Bring – News of the EV world and our community. Of course, also bring you’re interested (or interesting) friends and your desire to meet up as we discuss a variety of topics (including EVs) and to introduce others to the cause.
Does anyone have a new ride? If so, be sure to bring it so we can get a look at it.
Get a Charge while parking for the meeting –
If you need a charge, the City of Camarillo has 12 Level 2 Charge Point chargers on the SE side of City Hall, which is about a four-minute walk (1,056 feet) from Spencer Makenzie’s. ($0.29 per kW).https://www.plugshare.com/location/523336
Is anyone interested in coordinating 6 or so small educational EV showcases this year at local multi-family developments? There may even be the opportunity to get compensated for your time. If you would be interested, please contact kentb...@gmail.com
We are now planning for our upcoming outreach for Drive Electric Earth Month (the whole of April). As of now, we will be participating at four locations –
April 18th, Ventura Plaza Park, Earth Day, and EV Showcase.
Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Join us for the City of Ventura Earth Day, held once again at Plaza Park in downtown Ventura. Register, bring your Electric Vehicle, and spend the day mingling with others in the EV community while we educate festival attendees about EV ownership.
Last year, we had 35 vehicles on display, representing a wide variety of models, from a 1916 Rauch & Lange to a 2025 Cadillac Optiq.
We need volunteers to help make the event happen during setup and breakdown.
Register to attend and showcase your vehicle at
https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/5074
April 18th, Thousand Oaks Arbor Day and EV Showcase.
Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Bring your vehicle and come to this free, family-friendly event. It will include kids’ activities, live music, a plant giveaway, and free compost.
We will host an electric vehicle display area where EV owners can showcase their vehicles and be available to answer questions and share their firsthand experience and insight into EV ownership. https://toaks.gov/earthday
We have space for up to 30 vehicles.
The registration page should be up by the end of the week. Look for the TO Arbor Day / Earth Day link at https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/ or write me for more information. mailto:kentb...@gmail.com
April 26th and 27th. Santa Barbara Earth Day 2026 and Green Car Show
Saturday 11 am to 8 pm, Sunday 11 am to 7 pm.
Earth Day in Santa Barbara (https://www.sbearthday.org/) is a two-day event that draws over 30,000 participants to celebrate the Earth. This is one of the longest-running Earth Day celebrations.
One big draw at the event is the Green Car Show, which features several elements, including ride-and-drive opportunities in electric vehicles and static displays of various makes, models, and types of electric cars, trucks, and equipment.
Also included is the Owners’ Corner, where local EV owners showcase their personal vehicles and answer questions about how EV ownership has improved their lives.
Register to showcase your vehicle at https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/5075
Each day we have spaces for eight vehicles. Come for either or both days to
help with the showcase and volunteer to spread the word.
Also on April 27th, the Ventura Charter School will once again present EcoFest in West Ventura. This free, family-friendly festival will be held on the beautiful greenspace of the VCS campus. With thousands of attendees, the event promises an exciting day filled with live music, local vendor booths, food trucks, a silent auction, raffles, and much more!
This event brings us together as a community, with local companies sharing products and services, nonprofits promoting green and sustainable best practices, and Ventura Charter School showcasing their unique approach/contribution to public education.
The event includes an EV showcase featuring electric vehicles and their owners.
The registration page will also be posted shortly. Write me if you want more information or to participate. mailto:kentb...@gmail.com
If you know of other great Earth Day events where we can participate, please let us know.

Get your own EV Advocate Shirt and spread the good cheer.
Scott Toshi worked up this custom shirt and showed us how we can make a group purchase to save on shipping.
Contact Scott for more information on the shirts and how to order –
his email is cre8invrg At ymail.com
For those of you who want to order your shirts in a group, take a look at the site and tell him what you want. Look underderreqw3qr print shirt and not embroidery logos. Take a look at the different shirt and polo options. I encourage you to stay in the light blue color range. (his shirt is Carolina Blue in the Sport –Tek brand). But you can all get your own brand and cut of shirts. You will need to email him this data.
1. Brand
2. Color
3. Size
4. Long sleeve or short sleeve
5. Logo placement. Do you want a large front and/or back? Or a small front left chest logo and
A possible large back logo
6. Price
7. Your name, email address, and text cell phone number.
After we get all your orders together, I will email you back your contribution of the shipping fee plus your shirt with logos. It is $13.95 for the group order. So if we get 2 people to order, we each pay $7, if we get 14 people to order, we each pay $1.00 for shipping. At that time, you will then submit a Venmo or Zelle payment to me, and your order will be added to the group. Those who miss the deadline of Feb 28, 2026, for both the order and payment can still order, but will need to do it individually.
For those of you who want to order your own shirt, you will need to email me with your name and email address. I will then grant permission to share our club logo on store at Queensboro. That way we will all have the same size and color club logo. You will need to make your own account on their website.
Then go up to the top of the webpage and you will see “Logo management”. I haven’t done this yet so there will be a learning curve. I should have your name and email registered and you will then have
access to the .CSV logo file. Of course, you will have to pay the $13.95 shipping fee, but you will also have the liberty of your own timeline.
Tips:
You can imagine trying to order one t shirt brand and style and having it fit all of our differently shapedbodies. But at least there is that option here. If you have any difficulties please email the Customer Service. I only have knowledge of my own past order, so I am limited in knowledge. Remember that you can return any shirt that you are not happy with. It took about 2 weeks to get my order.
When you select a particular brand of t-shirt, you will enter the details of that particular shirt, such as price and colors. You will then go down and click on the color dots. A name will then appear for the name of that particular color. Go further down and you will see information on the shirt such as material and features, and cut. A few of the shirts also have a Sizing Guide where you will see how that particular shirt is cut. FIT, CLASSIC, and RELAXED are the three fit types. Some shirts are lightweight and others are on the heavyweight side.
Examples of full cut t-shirts are: Gildan Beefy T, Hanes Beef T. and Next Level
Examples of Extra-long or tall shirts are: I no longer see that shirt option. It used to say tall in the
product description. Maybe customer service could guide you.
Examples of what shirt companies have the color Carolina Blue: Port & Company, Sport-Tex, Gildan Printed Heavy Cotton, Gildan Printed Men’s DryBlend
