6:30 PM, Tuesday December 17th, 2024
We will be celebrating the end of the year with our semi-annual holiday dinner with friends and family.
When – December 17th, start gathering at 6:30 to mingle, socialize and have dinner. After dessert, we will hold a lite version of our monthly meeting.
(If you want to show up earlier, Happy Hour is from 3:00 to 6:00pm)
Where – The Greek in Ventura Harbor, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, CA 9300, http://www.thegreekventura.com
The gathering is open to all, so bring your significant others, family, friends and any EV interested folks. It will be good to meet and mingle with our large circle of EV disciples.
We have arranged for a Holiday Special Menu with your choice of entrée. The menu is attached below. Please RSVP to me at kentb...@gmail.com , indicate how many will be in your party so we can reserve table space for you. Also indicate your entrée choice so the kitchen can make sure to cover all our needs.
Drinks other than coffee (and H20) are not covered.
If needed, you may order off the regular menu (Cathy and I got to have our saganaki).
Our meeting will follow. But it will be a lite version.
Get a Charge while parking for the meeting –
If you want to get a charge during dinner, there are three Level 2 Blink Chargers 400 feet north of the Greek, across the lawn, next to Island Packers, 1860 Spinnaker Dr.

EV Advocates Field Trip to the Nethercutt Museum and Collection
On January 25th our group will be making the trek to the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar to ogle over 130 of the world’s greatest antique, vintage, classic and unique automobiles including a 1997 GM EV1 and a 1914 Rauch & Lang Model B4, Electric Brougham. https://nethercuttcollection.org Admission is $5.00. (children 12 and under are free)
The day will start with brunch at 11:00 am at James Family Restaurant , 739 Truman St. San Fernando (2.9m south of the museum). Then we will convene at the Nethercutt for our group photo and meander on our self-guided tour through the museum. If possible, try to carpool on this trip to conserve electrons.
This outing is being organized by James Reach. Please let us know if you will be part of this event.
Other items which may be of interest to the group.
With the pending management changes in Washington, we all should be concerned about support, or lack of or even worse, opposition to continued EV adoption. We will discuss measures you can take to support our noble cause.
EV Charging Access updates -
The existing EA station at the Pacific View Mall has returned to service. If any of you have a report on how it’d doing, please speak up.
The Crowne Plaza, 450 E. Harbor Blvd, Ventura has 8 Tesla Destination Chargers in the hotel parking lot. They are free to use, but you must pay for parking. It may be that with validation from a hotel business, you can get 2 hours for free. They are level 2 chargers with 40-amp service but are throttled down to 5kW. Any Tesla or CCS vehicle with an adapter can use them.
You can at least get a coffee, validation and charge while you stroll the promenade.
Construction has finished at the new Electrify America (EA) Station in Ventura which will has six 350kW chargers. It’s located in the SE corner of the Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) Parking Lot, 6026 Telephone and Victoria. EA identifies the station as “Coming Soon” and is now waiting on SCE to do the final service connection.
Also in the mill, 2 EA stalls in Thousand Oaks at the VCCU facility, 18 W. TO Blvd. and right next-door EV Gateway is installing 3 120kW chargers at the Best Western Inn, 75 W. TO Blvd. Both stations are waiting for SCE hookup.
At the Ventura Harbor Village installation is continuing for two locations. 11 level 2 chargers near the Escape Room (and our NDEW Lawn Event area) 1591 Spinnaker Drive, and 10 more at 1567 Spinnaker Drive between Baja Bay Tacos and the Harbor Market. The anticipated commissioning date was the end of October, but SCE did not specify the year…. This will soon be 26 level 2 chargers in the harbor.
Does anyone have tips on other new stations?
See you Tuesday Evening…
