Although typically pretty internet savvy, I'm kinda bouncing around the group setup, probably due to interruptions from the kiddos.  :o)  I can't seem to reply to posts.  Anyway, we are so glad to be a part of the Locavores and look forward to the next meeting, since we were not able to attend the first one.  We are interested in organic, local, and raw foods, herbal and holistic healing, and chemical-free cosmetics and home care.

I was diagnosed with thyroid problems nearly 2 years ago, and then a pituitary tumor in July, which catapulted us straight into a quest for healthier living, not just for myself or hubby, but for the kids especially, so they (hopefully) don't encounter the health problems I've come upon in the last couple of years.  In my research, I've discovered so much regarding the mainstream food supply as to frighten us all into reality!!  We are very thankful for the wake-up call.  Creation has everything designed according to our needs, and we do not want to rely on big businesses with adulterated products ever again.

Some books I am reading include several by Annie Berthold-Bond including, "Home Enlightenment," "Better Basics for the Home," "The Green Kitchen Handbook," and "Clean & Green."    Funny... the realization for organic, healthy living came when we borrowed Kevin Trudeau's book from the library, "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About."  It pointed us to raw milk and other natural living resources.  While I don't agree with everything he recommends, some of his advice is very good.

Perhaps our enlightenment came as a result of selfish motives... but we have realized the bigger picture through our journey and see the need to support local farmers in order to have the best products possible.

Thank you for having us in the Locavores!!  :o)

Peace and Blessings,
Michele
