Hi. A friend bought a Lenovo I5 desktop and I helped him install it.  We let it update to the latest release 1803 and it has been working extremely well.
Now it nags that it needs Activation, (see screen capture).
I Googled a fix at
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-activated-still-keeps-asking-activation
Which recommends a few things, including de-activating and then re-activating.
Is this safe.
 I used this command.

wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
to get the Product key and captured it.

Has anyone experienced this problem? And is it safe to follow the instructions in the link.
Will it eventually lock the OS as the nag goes away after about 5 cancels.
Activation was done at a company level according to the capture.
Regards Roger

Interesting.  I wonder if a recent Windows Update has messed with activation.

Member Laurie Oliver came to the Help desk last Wed with the same issue - his Dell desktop suddenly came up with the activation warning message. Although I don't know if in Laurie's case the message said anything about being activated by the "organisation's activation service".
I told him to try the automated activation service and if that failed call or chat Microsoft Activation service to sort it out.

Left untreated, Windows will eventually stop working and stop updating.

This issue can be caused if the original Windows 10 activation was for Home version and someone installed the Pro version without obtaining a new key.

If you are sure that the source of the original W10 was legal, I would suggest phone or chat activation

Hi Roger

There is quite a bit of stuff on the net regarding this. There are a few basic questions that need to be asked.
Is the Lenovo a new one or used.? What version is the installed windows?

These will then lead to other questions that are needed to pin down the cause.

The most common cause is that the hardrive or computer were owned by a company and the licence was installed globally. This then needs to be updated globally otherwise the activation turns itself off after a period of time, hence the message.

The global installation software can be uninstalled but then it will have to be activated using a valid licence number for that version of windows. When it ll comes down to it, why not follow the links, it'll bite you in the bum whatever way you go if there is a problem. I read on one forum there is an activation troubleshooter, I can't find it but then my laptop is valid.

All sounds very tricky - good luck...
