Special Key for Search and Record

Hi,

I am working on a website that collects arts data. I have the General API key for OAI-PMH but I need to access “Entity API” and “OAI-PMH (BETA)” API services that require special separate keys from “Search” and “Record” APIs. Have tried to send an email to Europeana but no reply yet.

Hello Magnus,

Thank you for your email.

The Entity API is still working with a demo key "apidemo" until we make the next release which will start using the production keys. Btw, these keys are only used at the moment by Search & Record APIs. Wrt the OAI-PMH, it does not require a key... we had to drop that requirement (because the client software would not handle them) and kept the remark on the documentation page just for us to know who our users are (that is the main reason why we have keys).

I did webscraping and added Europeana Entities to Wikidata see Task Graph and status report

We now have some issues

1) German Wikipedia is not happy about that you on the Europeana artist page cant see ID e.g. agent/base/47479
see discussion

2) en:Wikipedia questioned the quality of the data in Europeana see new discussion I started today to get this going
and please dont hesitate be part of it and answer questions 

3) I have been in contact with 4 Swedish museums that have uploaded objects to European and the data is wrong matched. 
They dont understand its matched like that so we need a much better Change process and transparency of changes done and how to request a change

Please let me know how we can move this forward in a controlled way....

Linked data is not easy and having 2 loosely coupled system, working together need good tools and good defined processes.
I feel Europeana and Wikidata/Wikipedia is a perfect match but we need to step up and see how e.g. the Wikidata project is management
with public workboards, possibility to add request / subscribe etc....

We also need to involved museums much more is my feeling from the dialogue in Sweden... myunderstanding is that most people working
at museums in Sweden has very low understanding for Linked data ( I have seen presentations were story told is that they should not understand it)

My latest try is to convince more wiki languages to add Europeana to the Authority template i.e. the Russion Wikipedia has done that ==>
* we have Europeana id on 19695 pages link
* e.g. Claude Monet =  Моне, Клод
and have at the bottom of the page Europeana
 
If we get that I guess it will be much easier for people at museums/archives to understand what Agent is the one they should use when uploading andalso they 
cfan get better understanding what artist are missing... and can request that you add it....
