Available languages should be provided via a webservice.

Hi Claudiu,

So, if I understand correctly, you'd like to retrieve the list of languages currently shown at http://interop.europass.cedefop.europa.eu/web-services/rest-api-summary/#localisation, programmatically via a web service?

If so, what's the use case behind this request? Perhaps to display them in a drop-down list somewhere at your application?

Best regards,

I'm developing a Drupal module that extracts data from users profiles (or from an arbitrary Drupal entity) and uses the services to give back a PDF to the users. The Drupal site is multilingual. Normalyy i would like to return the CV in the current language of the user. But this needs a fallback mechanism. I need to check if the current language is in the ALLOWED list. If not, I need to fallback to English or whatever. I'm validating now against a HARDCODED list copied from http://interop.europass.cedefop.europa.eu/web-services/rest-api-summary/#localisation) but ideally we need to fetch this list from an official authority. (eg. a webservice). I understand that the list is not changing often that's why my request is only a NICE-TO-HAVE.

Thanks,
Claudiu

Hi again Claudiu,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. That's a perfectly valid request.

I've already added a ticket to implement this web service, will update this thread as soon as it's available.

Hi Claudiu,

I just wanted to inform you that it is now possible to get the list of supported languages in XML or JSON format via the following REST API endpoints respectively:

Simply send a GET request to the above URLs. For example:

Please let us know if you need anything else.
