Dear EMSA members,
Wilfried Decoo (University of Antwerp, Belgium) is conducting some research about attitudes toward same-sex marriage by Mormons outside the U.S. In this informative phase he is interested in obtaining open comments.
The spectrum of attitudes may be broad, also depending on the status of SSM in the country:
- strict adherence to the Church position for the same reasons as the Church states
- adherence to the Church position out of allegiance and obedience, but with personal reservations - doubt if it advisable to sustain or to ignore Church position, e.g., out of concern for the public image of the Church or for one's personal image in society
- quiet rejection of the Church position - open rejection of the Church position
Moreover, how is SSM handled and discussed in your experience: - SSM in Church talks and lessons: topic avoided? discussion? controversy?
- instructions from leaders as to the SSM legislation -- from ward and stake leaders? Area Presidency? GA's?
Responses will be treated anonymously, unless the respondent mentions explicitly that he/she can be cited. Please email Wilfrie...@uantwerpen.be
Could Americans on the list send this to friends and colleagues outside of the U.S.?
