Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear because of it! Charles Baudelaire, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Amedeo Modigliani, Oscar Wilde, Aleister Crowley, and Alfred Jarry were all notorious "bad men" of their day who were devotees of the Green Fairy.
Absinthe (English pronunciation: /ˈæbˌsɪnθ/) is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic (4574% ABV) beverage. It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from herbs, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium, commonly referred to as "grande wormwood".
Absinthe originated in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It achieved great popularity as an alcoholic drink in late 19th- and early 20th-century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers. Owing in part to its association with bohemian culture, absinthe was opposed by social conservatives and prohibitionists.
Lets get together at Phillys coolest Absinthe bar and sample historys most notorious spirit. As usual, our bartender will prepare our signature cocktail the Eurotini, this time with a bit of green in it.
